Job DescriptionDescription: Job title—Guest Engagement Cashier. Job Location—Carnitas Snack Shack. Classification—Nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Salary level—hourly with gratuity tip pool payments. Reports to—Supervisors and Managers Summary/objective— Enhance the guest experience by delivering prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional service in every interaction. Embrace a spirit of caring, authenticity, and accountability while demonstrating passion and perseverance throughout each shift. Take initiative and ownership in achieving both individual and team service goals, contributing to a welcoming, memorable, and guest-centered environment. Essential functions— Guest Experience & Brand Representation • Warmly greet every guest with a genuine smile and friendly service throughout their visit., • Engage guests with thoughtful flavor recommendations, menu insights, and upselling suggestions., • Deliver every interaction with enthusiasm and a “smile with your eyes” attitude that supports a positive, Instagram-worthy experience., • Accurately operate the POS system to complete orders using cash, credit, or app-based payments., • Confirm orders with guests to ensure accuracy and satisfaction., • Assemble food and beverage items as an expeditor (expo), ensuring timely and correct delivery to guests., • Set up and operate the ice cream cart or service station at in-store and off-site events., • Dispense soft-serve ice cream, churros, and beverages following precise portioning and food safety standards., • Maintain cleanliness of all service areas — including machines, carts, counters, and floors — both inside and outside when porters are unavailable., • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and PPE guidelines, including proper glove use and handwashing procedures., • Monitor and replenish inventory such as napkins, cups, cones, toppings, and takeout supplies., • Safely transport, store, and secure the ice cream cart before and after shifts., • Thrive in fast-paced environments while remaining composed and guest-focused., • Support teammates during high-volume periods and contribute to a fun, collaborative workplace culture., • Remain flexible, assist where needed, and promote a service-first mindset throughout the shift. Requirements: Competency • Ability to read & write English., • Ability to calculate and count cash & change., • Time management, • Customer service, • Dispute resolution, • Dependability, • Efficiency, • Flexibility, • Friendliness, • Attention to detail, • Point of Sale systems (POS), • Positive attitude, • Punctuality, • Primary work environment is both Indoor and outdoor work for routine cleaning; daily set up and breakdown of large patio area; temperatures range from 50F-90F with varying weather conditions., • Lift and/or move up to approximately 30 pounds frequently., • Bending/stooping/kneeling required – frequently., • Climbing ladders – occasionally., • Routine standing for duration of shift (up to 8 hours)., • Part time to 32 hours/week or more, • Due to unexpected business demands overtime (shifts greater than 8 hours) may be required., • High School diploma or GED., • Generally, 1+ years retail or restaurant experience, • Competency to do sales and service skills, strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication and listening skills. Ability to multi-task, basic math and cash handling experience., • San Diego Food Handers Card.
