Job DescriptionEDM Machinist (Wire & Sinker EDM) Location: Orlando, FL Pay Rate: $23 - $24/hour Shift: 2nd Shift (3PM - 11:30 PM) or 3rd Shift (10:30 PM – 7:00 AM) Schedule: Monday–Friday | Occasional Saturday OT (optional) Employment Type: Full-Time Note: All new hires will initially train on 1st shift for 3–6 months before transitioning to their designated shift. Position Overview We are seeking a skilled EDM Machinist (Wire & Sinker) to support precision manufacturing and repair operations. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Wire EDM and Sinker/Die Sinking EDM machines. This position plays a key role in supporting essential infrastructure through high‑accuracy machining in a safety‑driven, quality‑focused manufacturing environment. A Day in the Life • Review work orders, • Set up Wire EDM machines, including wire selection and threading, workpiece alignment, fixturing, and program loading (Esprit or similar CAM systems), • Set up Sinker/Die Sinking EDM machines, including electrode selection, electrode setup, dielectric tank preparation, and spark‑gap parameter entry, • Perform Wire EDM operations to produce contours, slots, cooling passages, and precision cuts per engineering specifications, • Perform Sinker EDM machining to create internal cavities, cooling-hole openings, pockets, and repaired surface features using graphite or copper electrodes, • Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to feeds, wire tension, flushing, spark gaps, and offsets to maintain accuracy and surface finish, • Conduct in‑process and final dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, precision gauges, CMM programs, height gauges, and gauge blocks, • Manage electrode wear, rethread wire, adjust offsets, and maintain stable machining conditions, • Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on EDM machines including tanks, filters, wire paths, flushing systems, and dielectric fluid levels, • Document machining operations, parameters, quality checks, and any deviations per manufacturing control procedures, • Follow all safety, PPE, and shop floor procedures, including proper handling of dielectric fluids, electrode materials, and electrical equipmentTools & Equipment, • Wire EDM machines (multiple series and control platforms), • Sinker/Die Sinking EDM machines (EA Series and related models), • Electrode materials including graphite, copper, and copper tungsten, • Precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, CMM stations, height gauges, and dial indicatorsQualifications, • Hands‑on experience with Wire EDM and Sinker EDM machining, • Ability to set up machines, select electrodes and wire types, and adjust machining parameters, • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and written work instructions, • Proficiency in dimensional inspection and maintaining tight tolerance requirements, • Mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot machining issuesPreferred Backgrounds (Not Required), • Prior experience as a Wire EDM Machinist, Sinker EDM Machinist, Driller EDM Machinist, or combined EDM role, • Background in aerospace, turbine, or other high‑precision manufacturing environments, • Experience with complex turbine component geometries, • Familiarity with CMM inspection, GD&T application, and high‑accuracy manufacturing processesWhy This Opportunity, • Competitive hourly pay, • Long‑term stability in a specialized, highly technical machining role, • Paid training on advanced EDM platforms This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.
