Job Description Job Overview of HR Generalist: The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily operations of the Human Resources department and plays an integral role in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and consistent service delivery to employees and managers. This position provides comprehensive operational and administrative support across multiple HR functions, including employee records management, leaves administration, workers’ compensation, compliance monitoring, employee status changes, and employee support services. The HR Generalist is responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, supporting HR initiatives, and ensuring alignment with organizational policies, procedures, and employment regulations. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion while working independently within established guidelines. Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (35 hours per week) Flexibility to work an 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM shift as needed Essential Duties of HR Generalist: Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: • Provide day-to-day human resources support to employees and managers and serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries., • Maintain accurate and confidential paper and electronic personnel files, including timely updates in the HRIS system., • Prepare materials and support new hire onboarding and orientation processes., • Administer and process employee leave requests, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability., • Collect, track, and maintain medical documentation related to employee leaves and return-to-work clearances., • Manage workers’ compensation claims, including incident reporting, claim submission, employee follow-up, and coordination with insurance carriers and third-party administrators., • Monitor and track employee driver’s license status, including NYS LENS screenings and out-of-state records, as required., • Support HR compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to federal, state, and organizational employment laws, policies, and procedures., • Track employee credentials and certifications and notify department managers of upcoming expirations or changes in credentialing status., • Prepare HR-related reports, audits, and documentation as requested by management., • Provide receptionist and front desk coverage as needed to support daily HR operations., • Participate in HR initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of HR administrative and operational processes., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs., • Supports overall strategic plan of the organization, • Ability to adhere to our organization's core values and commitments Essential Qualifications of HR Generalist: Key qualifications include: • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of three years of direct human resources or HR-focused administrative experience, or, • High school diploma with a minimum of five years of experience, including at least two years of direct human resources experience., • Demonstrated strength in administrative operations, organization, and attention to detail., • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion., • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills., • Working knowledge of HR documentation, personnel records, and compliance standards., • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including leave laws., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems, including ADP Workforce Now., • Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs.
