Position Overview We are seeking an experienced PACS Clinical Specialist with comprehensive expertise in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging to support a large-scale enterprise PACS consolidation and migration project. This role is essential to ensuring seamless transition of radiology workflows, multi-modality DICOM connectivity, and clinical validation throughout the migration process across multiple facilities. Primary Responsibilities Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging Expertise • Serve as the primary clinical subject matter expert for diagnostic radiology modalities including CT, MRI, General Radiography (X-Ray), Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT, • Validate radiology workflows including image acquisition, physician worklists, technologist protocols, and reporting workflows during PACS migration, • Configure and validate DICOM connectivity for all radiology modalities, ensuring proper image send/receive, query/retrieve, and MPPS (Modality Performed Procedure Step) functionality, • Ensure proper DICOM tag mapping, hanging protocols, advanced visualization tools (3D/MPR), and specialty applications (CAD, mammo workstations) are properly configured, • Work with radiologists, radiology technologists, and referring physicians to validate image quality, diagnostic tools, and clinical workflow efficiency post-migration, • Support specialty radiology areas including interventional radiology, breast imaging, neuroradiology, and musculoskeletal imaging PACS Migration & Technical Implementation • Support multi-site PACS consolidation efforts across enterprise healthcare facilities throughout Texas and surrounding states, • Conduct pre-migration assessments of existing radiology PACS/RIS environments, documenting current state workflows, integration points, modality inventory, and technical dependencies, • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for radiology migration, including all modality types, exam protocols, and clinical use cases, • Coordinate with modality vendors (GE, Philips, Siemens, Canon, Hologic, etc.) to ensure DICOM conformance and connectivity to new PACS platform, • Configure and test RIS/PACS integration, including order entry, exam scheduling, technologist worklists, and results distribution, • Troubleshoot radiology imaging integration issues, DICOM send/receive failures, modality connectivity problems, and workflow disruptions, • Participate in go-live support, providing on-site clinical and technical assistance to radiology departments, imaging centers, and remote facilities, • Support VNA (Vendor Neutral Archive) integration and historical image migration from legacy PACS systems Training & Knowledge Transfer • Develop radiology-specific training materials and documentation for diverse end user groups (radiologists, technologists, radiologists' assistants, schedulers, referring physicians), • Conduct role-based hands-on training sessions covering diagnostic workstations, advanced visualization tools, hanging protocols, and workflow optimization, • Provide hypercare support during transition period, addressing clinical questions, workflow optimization, and efficiency improvements, • Create quick reference guides, video tutorials, job aids, and troubleshooting documentation specific to radiology imaging workflows, • Train super-users and PACS administrators on system configuration, user management, and ongoing support procedures Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management • Collaborate with project management, radiology leadership, IT teams, biomedical engineering, and vendor partners to ensure successful migration outcomes, • Participate in regular project status meetings, providing updates on radiology readiness, technical issues, risks, and mitigation strategies, • Serve as primary liaison between radiology departments and technical implementation teams, • Document lessons learned, best practices, configuration standards, and operational procedures for radiology PACS implementations, • Support change management activities including communication campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and user adoption tracking Required Qualifications Clinical & Technical Expertise • 10+ years of hands-on experience with radiology PACS, RIS (Radiology Information Systems), or diagnostic imaging systems, • Comprehensive knowledge of radiology imaging modalities: CT, MRI, X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, • Strong understanding of DICOM standards, HL7 interfaces, IHE profiles, and radiology-specific DICOM tags, • Experience with major radiology PACS platforms , Merge PACS (Mandatory) (e.g., GE Centricity, Philips IntelliSpace, Change Healthcare, Sectra, Fujifilm Synapse, Agfa, Carestream), • Proven experience with PACS migration, upgrade, or implementation projects in hospital, health system, or imaging center environments, • Understanding of radiology workflows including order entry, exam scheduling, technologist protocols, image interpretation, and reporting Professional Background • Clinical background strongly preferred: Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT-R), Registered MRI Technologist (RT-MR), Registered CT Technologist (RT-CT), Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT), Radiologist Assistant (RA), or equivalent clinical credentials, • PACS Administrator certification (CIIP, PARCA) or equivalent IT healthcare experience strongly preferred, • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences, Healthcare IT, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) Location & Travel • Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Austin, Texas metropolitan area, • Ability to travel 30-40% of the time, primarily within Texas and Occasional travel to facilities in other states (Indianapolis and Illinois) as needed, • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, • Flexibility for occasional weekend or after-hours work during critical migration go-live events and scheduled maintenance windows Preferred Qualifications • Experience with enterprise PACS platforms and multi-vendor environments, • Knowledge of VNA (Vendor Neutral Archive) architectures, image migration tools, and DICOM data normalization, • Familiarity with advanced visualization tools (3D/MPR, fusion imaging, dose tracking, AI-powered post-processing), • Experience with specialty PACS applications: mammography workstations, orthopedic templating, radiation oncology, dental imaging, • Experience with Epic Radiant, Cerner, or other EMR/EHR integration with radiology systems, • Understanding of dose management systems, radiation exposure tracking, and regulatory compliance (ACR, FDA), • Familiarity with IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) profiles for radiology including XDS-I, PIX, PDQ, • Project management experience or PMP certification, • Experience with change management, clinical adoption strategies, and training program development, • Scripting or automation skills (Python, PowerShell, SQL, DICOM scripting) for PACS administration and data migration tasks, • Knowledge of radiology quality improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, value stream
