Job DescriptionDescription: JOB TITLE: PARENT TRAINING COORDINATOR PSN REPORTS TO: Directors of PSN / PTI Director LOCATION: Community-Based HOURS: Part-Time (1-24 hours per week) FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Position Summary The Parent Training Coordinator provides training, technical assistance, advocacy support, and educational resources to families of children and youth with disabilities. This role supports Family Network on Disabilities’ mission by empowering families to understand their educational rights, navigate systems of care, and build collaborative partnerships with schools, agencies, and community organizations. The position requires strong communication, presentation, organizational, and relationship-building skills while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational and grant requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Provide individualized assistance and support to families, caregivers, and professionals regarding special education services, IDEA, IFSPs, IEPs, TIEPs, and related disability resources. · Provide individualized assistance and support two families, caregivers, and professionals regarding systems of care, healthcare related topics, and helping families navigate local community base support that can best suit their needs for their child’s health. (The TA and Health support is based on resources, making connections to health agencies not us providing healthcare, treatment, plans, or medical or mental health advice) · Deliver presentations, training, workshops, webinars, conferences, and community outreach events in virtual and in-person settings. · Collaborate with local, regional, and state agencies, schools, and organizations to coordinate outreach activities and educational/health opportunities. · Assist families in understanding rights, procedures, and resources available for children and youth with disabilities. · Maintain accurate and timely documentation of contacts, activities, trainings, and information dissemination in the FND database. · Represents Family Network on Disabilities on committees, councils, task forces, and community meetings as assigned. · Dissemination of educational/health training materials. · Conduct follow-up communication and evaluation activities with training participants and community partners. · Participate in informational booths and outreach support at conferences, resource fairs, and community events. · Maintain current knowledge of federal and state legislation, trends, and best practices related to special education, Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs (CYSHCN) topics, disability services, and family engagement. · Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, conferences, and professional development activities. · Travel within assigned service regions and statewide as necessary to fulfill project deliverables. · Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership/management. Minimum Qualifications · Minimum of three (1) years of experience supporting parents, self-advocates, or families of children with disabilities in a collaborative and professional environment. · Knowledge of IDEA, special education processes, IFSPs, IEPs, TIEPs, CYSHCN topics, and related disability systems. · Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. · Demonstrated public speaking and presentation experience with adult learners and community groups. · Proficiency with Google Workspace, virtual meeting platforms, and cloud-based applications. · Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote work environment. · Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. · Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, valid Florida car insurance, and ability to travel as required. Preferred Qualifications · Parent, caregiver, family member, or individual with lived disability experience. · Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency. · Experience facilitating webinars, online parent groups, and community outreach initiatives. · Experience with social media engagement, educational/health content creation, and digital outreach. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position operates in remote, office, and community-based environments and requires prolonged periods of computer use, communication via phone and video conferencing, public speaking, and occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds. Travel to meetings, training, conferences, and outreach events is required. Standard work hours for full-time employees are established based on program and organizational needs. However, all staff are expected to maintain flexibility and may be required to work evenings, nights, and weekends in order to fulfill community engagement functions, training, conferences, outreach activities, and project deliverables. Attendance at mandatory in-person meetings, training, and organizational events is required as assigned.
