Job Description Purpose and Scope of Job: The BSW (Bachelors Social Worker) is a Case Manager role within the Foster Care In The U.S. Inc organization. This is a support position within the organization. The BSW helps develop, implement and manage the Treatment Plan goals and objectives of the youth and young adults that the organization provides services to and works with them to achieve those goals and objectives. Administrative duties include assisting the Executive Director in the development of individual Treatment, Safety Plans, working with local landlords and organizations to find and secure safe, stable and affordable housing for homeless youth, accurate data entry and record keeping, and the updating and development of community resources for our organization. The BSW is responsible for handling confidential material and internal, and external, reports, letters, documentation and correspondence in support of Foster Care In The U.S. Inc.’s operations and its clients. The BSW position understands the moral and ethical importance of confidentiality in the handling of very sensitive health and business information, fully understands confidentiality and has excellent verbal and written communication skills and impeccable attention for detail. The ideal candid will be licensed by the state of Indiana, be dependable, reliable, trustworthy and will understand the importance, and sensitive nature, of working with diverse populations of young individuals who are experiencing homelessness and who may be dealing with severe trauma. The ability to multitask, control your temper and temper your words, manage complex and delicate situations and issues, manage the flow of work in an often fast-paced environment, and an ability to correctly identify and manage mental health crisis situations is essential to this position. Role Objectives In the position of BSW, you will: • Serve as Case Manager for clients in the IATT Project or those actively enrolled in, or participating in, Foster Care In The U.S. Inc.’s Ending Youth Homelessness Program, • Provide on-going treatment and Case Management services to participants on a weekly basis, • Work closely with the Executive Director and/or LCSW on case plan goals and update plans every 2-3 months, or as needed, • Achieve organizational goals while upholding all policies, procedures and best practices of the Foster Care In The U.S. Inc. organization, • Assess, and provides treatment for participants, under the direction of the Executive Director and/or LCSW, using the DSM-5, for both substance abuse and mental health needs, • Collaborates to develop appropriate support and interventions, and coordinates services, • Demonstrate proficient skill in evidence-based practices and theories to work with youth and young adults and their families, • Screens admissions for high-risk program participants and provides referrals to additional services for those who may require more care, services and resources than what the scope of our program is equipped to provide, • Assists clients to fully utilize community resources and gives proper and accurate direction and advice in the utilization of those resources, • Documents social work interventions in client files in Charity Tracker and/or HMIS in a timely manner, • Counsels’ clients to achieve an optimal level of psychosocial functioning, • Handle crisis situations as they arise even if they are after normal work hours and immediately reports new information and changes to the Executive Director and/or the LCSW or Case Manager Supervisor, • Represents the nonprofit to the public in a professional manner, • Participates in on-going professional work development to maintain knowledge, skills, licensure, and certifications, • Develops, implements and oversees Treatment Plans for each assigned individual for the nonprofit in keeping with the organization’s mission and vision, • Travel to and from our Transitional Housing location as well as travel within the community is required using your own, or an available company vehicle when necessary, • Maintain required car insurance on your vehicle with no lapses in policy, • Is fiscally responsible and trustworthy, • Works directly with program participants to ensure a successful outcome and to ensure that Treatment Plan goals and objectives are being met in a timely manner, • Ensures all organizational policies and procedures are strictly adhered to, • Attends required meetings/trainings for the Organization, the City of Evansville and the State of Indiana, • Data Entry, • Assist program participants with living and educational needs as required, • Ensure that all documentation is performed on the day of the activity, • Maintain a professional relationship with program participants, vendors, volunteers and other staff at all times, • Good organizational skills to handle multiple priorities while remaining professional and calm, • Ability to work with diverse people, • Ability to make psychosocial assessments and develop and implement care plans based on those assessments, • Effective, professional, telephone skills, • Strong level of confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of materials and information handled, • Ability to work independently and be self-directed and flexible, • Ability to prioritize, • Ability to perform functions with minimal supervision, • Common Sense, • Previous experience working as a BSW at another youth organization, foundation, school, or company, • Experience developing and working with budgets, • Experience developing and implementing mental health assessments, • Experience working with youth and young adult populations, • Experience working with homeless individuals/populations, • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, • Problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking, • Upholds the highest, moral and ethical standards, • Dependable, reliable and trustworthy and will maintain trustworthiness, • Understands and upholds the strictest confidence in all dealings, communications, correspondences and interactions with program participants, staff, volunteers, vendors and the Board of Directors of Foster Care In The U.S. Inc., • Bachelors degree in social work is preferred, • 3+ years of experience in working with diverse populations of young people in a congregate program, community environment and/or nonprofit setting or atmosphere is preferred, but not required, • Experience managing budgets and expenses, • Must be a person of strong integrity and able to develop and maintain high trust relationships, • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal, • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, follow instructions, and follow-up to ensure responsibilities are fulfilled, • Absolute proficiency and knowledge of computers, android tablets/computers, MAC Books and Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). You ABSOLUTELY MUST be able to create documents as instructed, when needed, without needing training or a training course to do so. You will be thoroughly tested on this proficiency before being offered this position, • Valid Indiana Driver’s license and required insurance coverage Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Answering phones, • Scheduling appointments, • Verifying information for accuracy, • Working with various other non-profit programs in support of youth and our operations and applications, • 4-Day work week, • Bi-weekly pay, • Early pay (depending on your banking institution protocols), • Ability to work one day a week remotely, • Paid holidays after 90-day probationary period is reached, • Total of 6 mental health days a year with 4 of those paid, • Paid Mental Health Assistance (subject to terms, • Job performance evaluations with yearly raises based on evaluation outcome To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job, you will occasionally be required to sit, stand, walk, drive/operate a car, lift and carry bags and boxes of approximately 20-30 pounds; talk or hear, read, use hands and fingers, to push, pull heavy objects or items, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, stoop, kneel, or crouch, bend, reach, flex, blink, look, see, type, listen, operate a computer, input data and information into forms on a computer, tablet or sheet of paper, use a calculator, copy machine, pencil, ink pen, stamper, remote control, fax machine or postage meter. You must be able to follow instructions and health directives as set-forth by the centers for disease control in the event you come into contact with bodily fluids of any kind. You may also be required to lift participants off the floor or assist them in a manually physical capacity and deal with the emotional stress and toll of clients with suicidal ideation or those that may take their own life, those that have been sexually abused, molested, violently raped, tortured, disfigured, prostituted or human trafficked. This position requires the ability to deal with stressful situations and crisis and is mentally, emotionally, and spiritually demanding.
