All while understanding that together we are even better. \n \n\n \n Schedule: Full Time \n \n\n \n Shift : Nights 3/12s 7-7 \n \n\n \n Location : 601 East Rollins St. Orlando, FL 32803 \n \n\n \n Unit Highlights: \n \n\n \n\n\n • The Cardiothoracic PCU provides uncommon compassion and exceptional care to patients receiving advanced minimally invasive cardiothoracic procedures as well as plastic reconstructive surgeries. Following ERAS protocols, this team is dedicated to the best outcomes for our patients.\n \n, • Utilizing bedside led focus groups for process change and any staff or patient focused project, there is always opportunity to grow and challenge yourself on WT8!\n \n, • We are a work family! On WT8, we believe nursing is a team sport and with the help and support of each team member, we create a place of positivity and healing. Patient care model: Registered Nurses & Patient Care Technicians/Nurse Technicians Ratios: 3:1 patients per 1 RN for flaps x12 hrs 4-5 patients per 1 RN based on acuity & 8-12 patients per 1 PCT/NT based on acuity.\n \n, • Growth & Development - With a heavy focus on clinical learning and peer support, our nursing team has high participation in peer nurse led education and growth through the clinical ladder, the Professional Excellence Program. Always striving for professional development, WT8 prides itself in our study groups for professional certification through PCCN.\n \n, • Collaboration Leads to Excellence - Through intentional and enthusiastic collaboration between our surgeons, APPs, and WT8 staff, this unit has been recognized as the 2023 AdventHealth Orlando Department of Excellence. With routine thoracic surgery education and frequent plastic surgery in-services, these teams work together seamlessly to deliver excellent care and elevate practice.\n \n, • Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America\n \n, • Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando\n \n, • AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country\n \n, • NURSING PROCESS: Completes timely assessments per Practice Guidelines including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and life-style factors, including signs of abuse or neglect. Makes appropriate decisions and interventions and nursing diagnosis according to patients actual or potential health conditions or needs. (American Nurses Association [ANA], 2012)\n \n, • NURSING PROCESS: Based on the assessment and diagnosis, sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for the patient (ANA, 2012), assisting in the development and implementation of an individualized plan of care. Prioritizes and completes follow up assessments, evaluates and modifies plan of care as needed. Nursing practice reflects mutual goal setting and whole person care including meeting the needs of the mind, body and spirit. (King, 1995)\n \n, • NURSING KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including, but not limited to lab results, non-invasive monitoring data and interdisciplinary team notes. Nursing practice reflects the application of knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population.\n \n, • PATIENT SAFETY: Nursing practice reflects the application of knowledge, skill and adherence to all pertinent regulatory standards. Follows strict infection prevention precautions. Adheres to policy and procedure regarding all aspects of medication safety. Practice reflects importance of patient teaching and takes advantage of opportunities, both planned and unplanned, to carry it out in accordance with plan of care.\n \n, • Graduate of a school of nursing\n \n, • Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse\n \n, • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification\n \n, • Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements\n \n, • Bachelor's degree in Nursing\n \n \n
