Job Description Operations & Planning Compliance Engineer/Analyst – Experienced Texas Reliability Entity, Inc. (Texas RE) is hiring! We are seeking an experienced Operations & Planning Compliance Engineer/Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the electric power industry, with a focus on conducting compliance engagements (audits) and internal control assessments for the Bulk Power System (BPS). Who We Are At Texas RE, we play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and security of the BPS within the ERCOT Interconnection, which serves approximately 90% of Texas’s electric load. Texas RE offers a hybrid work schedule requiring at least two days a week in the office, with additional in-office work as needed. Candidates must reside in the Austin-metro area or be able to commute reliably. The ideal candidate We are looking for a professional with a strong background in the electric power industry and a deep understanding of its operations and planning. The following attributes are highly valued: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering., • Five (5) years of experience in the electric power industry, with a focus on grid planning, operations, or reliability., • Experience using applications for power system modeling, analysis or real-time operations., • Self-motivated with the ability to manage work objectives efficiently and effectively., • Strong willingness to learn, retain, and share technical knowledge., • Solutions-driven with the ability to make sound and independent judgments., • Ability to adhere to strong professional standards when interacting with others. The Compliance Engineer/Analyst will lead and conduct engagements to evaluate NERC registered entities for compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards. This role involves significant contact with personnel who manage, operate, plan, and oversee generation, transmission, distribution, and physical/cyber security. The Compliance Engineer/Analyst will work to ensure information is consistent and accurate for preparing documentation and reports for the engaged entities, NERC, FERC, Texas RE management, and the Texas RE Board. Essential Job Duties • Ability to travel up to 30%., • Leads, plans, and conducts compliance engagements and internal control assessments of NERC registered entities, acting as a subject matter expert on reliability and security., • Performs data analysis and correlation using statistical, judgmental, and/or mathematical methods., • Reviews enforceable and newly developed NERC Reliability Standards to ensure auditability, reliability, and security., • Develops, maintains, and delivers accurate, and concise audit workpapers, findings, presentations, and reports., • Efficiently and effectively communicates and collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders in the electric power industry., • Works independently, proactively, and productively to ensure all work responsibilities are successfully completed.General Job Requirements, • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or an industry-related field of study or six years applicable experience, • Minimum of five (5) years, in excess of degree requirements stated above, of progressively responsible experience, • Problem solving skills, • Organizational skills, • Presentation skills, • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, • Functional/technical skills, • Technical learning abilityPreferred Job Skills, • Knowledge of grid planning or operations (e.g. transmission, generation, or distribution) with an emphasis on reliability or security., • Experience using specialized applications for powers system modeling, analysis, or Real-time operations., • One of the following active certifications:, • Engineering: PE, NCSO, ERCOT System Operator Texas RE pays 100% of employee-only coverage for medical, dental, vision, life and ADD, short-term and long-term disability, and long-term care insurance, as well as the employee assistance program.
