Job DescriptionTax Manager Tax Manager Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse client base including high net worth individuals, trusts and estates, passthrough entities, corporations, nonprofits, and real estate interests. The Tax Manager will oversee tax engagements, mentor staff, review workpapers and returns, support tax provision and M&A due diligence, and deliver practical tax planning and controversy support while ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery. Key Responsibilities • Manage and deliver federal, state, local and international tax compliance and planning services for individuals, trusts & estates, passthrough entities (S Corps, partnerships), C Corporations, nonprofits and real estate clients., • Prepare, review and sign off on individual and entity tax returns and related filings including Forms 1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065, 1041, 709, 706 and other required schedules and disclosures., • Oversee tax provision (ASC 740) calculations, tax accounting, and related financial statement disclosures in coordination with accounting teams and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle)., • Lead partnership and corporate tax engagements, including partner allocations, K-1 review, basis calculations, and partnership tax research and planning., • Provide tax planning and structuring advice for high net worth individuals (HNW/HNWI) and families, including estate, gift and fiduciary planning, trusts and wealth transfer strategies., • Support M&A tax due diligence, structuring analysis, transaction modeling and postdeal integration tax workstreams., • Manage SALT, nexus, apportionment studies, VAT/GST, payroll & withholding and indirect tax issues; coordinate international tax, BEPS/OECD treaty analysis, transfer pricing and FATCA/CRS/FBAR matters as needed., • Perform technical tax research, prepare memos and client-ready recommendations on complex tax issues and emerging areas (R&D credits, incentives, state incentives)., • Supervise, coach and develop senior managers, tax supervisors and staff; manage resource allocation and engagement profitability., • Interface with clients, external advisors and tax authorities; lead tax controversy, audit support and negotiation where necessary., • Drive process improvements and technology adoption including tax software (ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax), advanced Excel/VBA, Alteryx/Power Query and SQL integrations., • Ensure adherence to quality control, firm policies and professional standards; maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes and industry developments.Qualifications, • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree (JD, LLM, or Master's) strongly preferred., • CPA or EA required; JD or LLM with tax specialization and/or active CPA license highly preferred., • Minimum 6+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or professional services supporting individuals, passthrough entities, corporations and trusts & estates; experience with high net worth clients preferred., • Proven experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065, 1041, 709 and 706 and associated schedules., • In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal, state & local tax (SALT), international tax principles, transfer pricing, and tax provision (ASC 740) practices., • Experience with M&A tax due diligence, tax structuring, tax controversy/audit support and nexus/apportionment studies., • Strong technical research skills and ability to produce clear, client-focused tax research memoranda., • Proficiency with tax and accounting software such as ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax and experience with ERPs (SAP, Oracle) a plus., • Advanced Excel skills including VBA; experience with Alteryx/Power Query and SQL is desirable., • Excellent leadership, project management and client communication skills; ability to mentor staff and manage multiple engagements., • Attention to detail, strong analytical abilities and commitment to quality and compliance., • Familiarity with FATCA/CRS/FBAR reporting, R&D tax credits & incentives, payroll & withholding tax and VAT/GST or indirect tax matters is a plus., • Comfort working with HNW individuals, trustees, family offices and private clients; experience in trusts & estates, gift and fiduciary tax planning preferred.
