Position Summary The Import & Export Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting and managing all aspects of international logistics and trade compliance activities. This role coordinates global shipments, ensures adherence to customs regulations, manages documentation, and works closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments to facilitate timely, cost-effective, and compliant import/export operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Supervise day-to-day import and export operations, including customs clearance, shipment tracking, and issue resolution, • Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations (e.g., CBP, EAR, ITAR, FDA, USDA, etc.), • Review and prepare accurate documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, shipping instructions, and AES filings, • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery, • Monitor inbound and outbound shipments to ensure on-time performance and resolve delays proactively, • Maintain HS codes, ECCNs, and other classification data for all traded goods, • Collaborate with Procurement, Planning, Sales, and Warehouse teams to align international shipments with operational needs, • Assist with duty drawback, free trade agreement (FTA) qualification, and other cost-saving opportunities, • Support audits, internal reviews, and government inquiries by maintaining accurate trade documentation and records, • Monitor KPI performance for logistics partners and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs, • Provide guidance and training to team members on trade compliance and operational procedures COMPETENCIES, • Problem Solving, • Drive for Results, • Managing & Measuring Work, • Building Effective Teams, • Motivating Others SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Import & Export Assistant Manager must carry out supervisory responsibilities (2 direct reports for Logistics, subject to change) in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include managing the time and attendance of the team, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems, career planning for the team and etc. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each major essential function satisfactorily. REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience), • 4–6 years of hands-on experience in import/export operations, customs clearance, and international shipping, • Strong knowledge of global trade compliance regulations (U.S. Customs, EAR, ITAR, etc.), • Familiarity with Incoterms, HTS classification, country of origin rules, and shipping documentation, • Experience working with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and government agencies, • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and U.S. Automated Export System (AES), • Must have hands-on experience to build a team and operational system immediately., • Must be customer -oriented, results-driven, self motivated, and self-confident with exceptional leadership, trustworthiness, high EQ, and ability to manage urgent tasks., • Must have a can-do and learning attitude., • Must possess leadership skills with the ability to train and develop personnel., • Ability to identify, analyze and proactively respond to challenging issues, render sound judgment, and provide recommended course of action., • Strong ownership and high integrity., • Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks and handle multi-tasks in a fast work pace., • Strong logical, analytical and problem-solving skills., • Must be proficient in ERP system (SAP is highly preferred), MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. LANGUAGE SKILLS • This individual must possess excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal., • Must be fluent in English. Chinese or Spanish is preferred. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS • The candidate must be able to apply mathematical concepts to compute rates, discounts, percentages, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
