Line Cook The Storehouse, 757 6th Avenue, New York, NY Full Time --- Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Line Cook to join our kitchen team at The Storehouse. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing food items consistently and efficiently during service, maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and safety. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations, especially during busy shifts. Key Responsibilities - Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients, cook, and plate dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s menu and recipes, ensuring consistency and quality. - Station Management: Set up, stock, and maintain your designated cooking station throughout your shift. Ensure all ingredients and supplies are prepped and ready for service. - Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff and the Head Chef to ensure all dishes are cooked and served in a timely manner. Maintain clear communication during busy service periods. - Food Safety & Cleanliness: Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a clean and sanitary workspace. NYC Food handlers card is needed - Inventory & Supplies: Assist in managing inventory levels for your station, notifying supervisors when supplies are running low. - Time Management: Work efficiently under pressure, especially during peak hours, to ensure timely preparation and service of food. - Quality Control: Ensure that each dish is prepared according to the specifications and standards of the restaurant. Address any inconsistencies promptly. Requirements: - Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in a fast-paced kitchen environment. - Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment. - Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality. - Team player with excellent communication skills. Conversational English is an absolute requirement - Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food handling. NYC Food Handling Certificate required Preferred Qualifications: - Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus. - Experience in fast paced kitchens, knowledge of NYC bar food is beneficial. --- Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Title: Truck Drivers Primary Purpose of the Position: Food Bank for New York City’s truck drivers are reliable and dependable and represent the Food Bank in a courteous and professional manner while out on the road and in all dealings and contact with member agencies and partners, suppliers, and donors. Our drivers are required to use tact and diplomacy in all situations dealing with our partners and other team members and leadership. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Deliver and pick up produce, frozen and dry food products to member agencies, suppliers, donors and other locations as assigned. • Assists in loading trailer with materials. • Unloads trailer by using forklift or hand truck. • Transports loads over required route to proper destinations. • Obtains shipping bills and necessary signatures. • Returns completed paperwork to the warehouse office. • Removes empty pallets from trailer truck and carries them to designated piling area. • Performs miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline and air in tires on a daily basis. • Other work-related and warehouse duties as assigned by supervisor or manager • Reliable and regular attendance is expected. Follow health and safety procedures laid out by management, city, state and federal requirements. Support the kitchen team as a whole in prep, dish, and on the line as needed.
