Community Services Program Overview The Community Outreach & Services (COS) Department helps seniors remain safely housed, socially connected, and engaged in healthy aging activities while reducing isolation and improving overall wellness. COS programming includes congregate meals, wellness and fall prevention activities, recreational programming, health education, computer literacy, behavioral health education, social engagement activities, Friendly Visiting services, and case management support. Position Summary The Senior Center Activities Coordinatoris responsible forplanning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a wide range of recreational, educational, wellness, and social engagement activities for older adultsparticipatingin St. Marys Centers Senior Community Center programs. The position supports daily senior center operations, front desk coordination, member engagement, volunteer support, and community outreach activities that promote healthy aging, wellness, socialization, and independence. This roleassistswith program scheduling, event coordination, participant tracking, congregate meal support, community presentations, wellness activities, and culturally responsive programming. The Senior Center Activities Coordinator works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community partners, healthcare organizations, and Alameda County partners to ensure high-quality services that align with program goals and community member needs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Program Planning & Coordination • Plan, coordinate, and implement senior center activities including health and wellness workshops, arts and crafts, movement classes, educational presentations, social recreation, holiday celebrations, cultural activities, and intergenerational programming., • Support evidence-informed wellness programming including Tai Chi,Bingocize, fall prevention activities, smoking cessation education, nutrition education, and healthy aging initiatives., • Coordinate guest speakers,special events, field trips, seasonal celebrations, and community engagement activities., • Develop monthly activity calendars, flyers, sign-in systems, and participant communication materials., • Adapt programming to meet the diverse physical, cognitive, cultural, and social needs of older adults. Front Desk & Member Services Operations • Supervisefront desk operationsincluding welcoming members, answering phones,assistingvisitors, checking participants into programs,andmaintaininga safe and welcoming environment., • Assistparticipants with registration,intakepaperwork, program enrollment, attendance tracking, and referrals to services., • Maintainaccurateparticipant records, sign-in sheetsand electronicregistration, service documentation, and activity participation data., • Provide informationregardingcommunity resources, senior services, transportation, housing, nutrition programs, and wellnesssupports., • Assistwith resolving participant concerns, scheduling questions, and member service needs in a respectful and trauma-informed manner. Wellness Programming & Participant Support • Facilitate or support Tai Chi,Bingocize, movement groups, smoking cessation, and wellness education activities., • Support computer literacy and digital inclusion programming includingWeConnect., • Provide referrals and linkage to healthcare, behavioral health, nutrition, and social services. Senior Engagement & WellnessSupport • Promote socialization, community connection, and positive aging experiences for senior participants., • Encourage participation in wellness and recreational activities designed to reduce isolation and improve quality of life., • Support congregate meal programming andassistwith meal service coordination as needed., • Facilitatesocialactivities,games, and member-led programming opportunities., • Gather participant feedback andassistwith program improvement efforts. Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA/CMAA) • Conduct outreach and engagement to Medi-Caleligible seniors and vulnerable populations., • Provide health education and preventive wellness information., • Participate in data collection and service tracking activities that support reimbursement and reporting efforts., • Maintainaccuratedocumentation and reporting aligned with county and state requirements. Program Operations & Compliance • Promote COS programs through outreach events, presentations, and community engagement activities., • Assistwith congregate meal services, workshops, and cultural programming., • Maintain activity schedules, supply inventories, attendance records, and program documentation., • Ensure compliance with agency policies, safety procedures, confidentiality standards, and contract requirements., • Participate in emergency preparedness and emergency response activities as assigned., • Support program evaluation, reporting, and quality improvement efforts. Qualifications • Associatesdegree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Health, Gerontology, Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred, or three yearsexperiencein a related field, • Minimum of2years of experience working with older adults, vulnerable populations, or community-based programs preferred., • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills., • Ability to build rapport with older adults, caregivers, volunteers, and community partners., • Knowledge of aging-related issues including mobility, social isolation, behavioral health, and chronic disease management., • Bilingual English/Cantonese or English/Mandarina plus., • California Drivers License.
