American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/08/2025, • Duration: 16 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a 35-bed Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) within an acute care hospital setting, • Serves adult and geriatric patients including cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring cases, • Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5, • Titration of drips required, including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications, • Uses Epic EMR system, • 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700), every other weekend required, • Floating required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed, • Every third holiday coverage is required, • Charge nurse present on every shift; assistance from nurse aides/techs with a 1:10 or 2:20 ratio, • No call or standby requirements, • Responsibilities include monitoring patients, titrating medications, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, • Unit is fast paced and requires strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills, • Nurse aides and techs provide additional support on the floor, • Orientation includes up to two days on the unit following onboarding, • First week includes onboarding and floor orientation, • No additional time off approved beyond initial RTO submitted (7 or fewer days for 13-week contracts), • Artificial nail policy strictly enforced for staff in patient care roles\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or compact RN license required; pending licenses not accepted, • Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience, • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, • Experience with titrating drips and stepdown/PCU level of care, • Must provide a copy of driver's license for residency and radius verification, • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility, • May not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility, • Pass/Fail skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required, • Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in patient care areas; non-compliance results in contract termination, • Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
