American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/08/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (stepdown) of an acute care hospital, • Adult patient population with mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke cases, frequently admitted through the ER, • Unit has 28 beds and maintains a 1:4 RN-to-patient ratio, • RNs are required to titrate drips including heparin, octreotide, insulin, and maintenance IV meds, • RNs must read and interpret telemetry monitoring, • Standard shift is 12-hour nights (1830-0700), • Weekend coverage required every other weekend, • Rotating holidays with permanent staff, • Floating required to Med/Surg and other hospital areas, including ICU/ED for appropriate patient care, • Uses Epic EMR system, • Specialty equipment includes code carts, LUCAS machines, hoyer lifts, sit and stand devices, • RNs must pass a unit-specific open book exam on orientation (minimum score of 90% required), • Artificial nails are not permitted in patient care departments, • First week includes classroom orientation, followed by two 12-hour shifts, • High-flow unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges, • Support from charge nurse, nurse aides (1:14), unit secretary (2-3 days/wk), and stocking clerk (3 days/wk), • Navy blue scrubs are required, • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 days per 13-week contract, • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or compact RN license (no pending licenses accepted), • Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience, • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry, • Driver's license required for verification of 50-mile radius eligibility, • Candidates must not be currently or recently (within 12 months) employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
