Job DescriptionJob Title: Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and tends multiple types of cutting and forming machine tools or robots to produce metallic and plastic workpieces to precise specifications. This role inspects and measures workpieces for quality, interprets blueprints and job orders, and performs basic machine maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate production. Responsibilities • Inspect workpieces for defects and measure them to verify accuracy of machine operation using rules, templates, and other measuring instruments., • Observe machine operation continuously to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions and adjust machines as necessary to maintain quality and productivity., • Read and interpret blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications, tooling instructions, and to plan operational sequences., • Set up and operate various machines, such as lathes, cutters, shears, borers, millers, grinders, presses, drills, and auxiliary machines, to manufacture metallic and plastic workpieces., • Position, adjust, and secure stock material or workpieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms, manually or using hoists., • Select, install, and adjust drills, cutters, dies, guides, and holding devices, ensuring proper alignment using templates, measuring instruments, and hand tools., • Change worn machine accessories, such as cutting tools and brushes, using appropriate hand tools to maintain optimal machine performance., • Perform minor electrical and mechanical repairs and adjustments to machines and promptly notify supervisors when major service is required., • Start machines and operate handwheels or valves to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms during production., • Perform minor machine maintenance, including oiling and cleaning machines, dies, and workpieces, and adding coolant to machine reservoirs as needed., • Follow established safety procedures and quality standards throughout all machine operation and maintenance activities.Essential Skills, • Verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions, document work, and collaborate with team members., • Strong attention to detail to inspect workpieces, detect defects, and ensure accurate machine setup and operation., • Basic problem-solving skills to identify issues with machine operation or product quality and make appropriate adjustments., • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and coworkers., • Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance., • Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders., • Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control practices, and cost considerations in manufacturing., • 0–2 years of related machine operation or manufacturing experience., • High school diploma or GED.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience operating multiple types of machines such as lathes, cutters, shears, borers, millers, grinders, presses, and drills., • Comfort using measuring instruments, templates, and hand tools for setup, inspection, and adjustments., • Ability to perform minor mechanical and electrical repairs and adjustments on production equipment., • Familiarity with routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and coolant management., • Willingness to work a second shift schedule and overtime as needed.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility operating a second shift schedule, typically Monday through Thursday from 3:15 p.m. to 1:45 a.m., with Friday and Saturday overtime as needed from 1:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You will work around industrial equipment such as lathes, cutters, shears, borers, millers, grinders, presses, drills, and auxiliary machines, using hoists, hand tools, and measuring instruments. The environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to established procedures. Work is primarily on the shop floor around machinery, lubricants, coolants, and raw materials, requiring consistent attention to safe operating practices and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
