Job DescriptionJob Title: Production Sheetmetal Technician Job Description The Production Sheetmetal Technician provides hands-on production support to sheet metal departments by performing basic fabrication and finishing operations, preparing parts for subsequent processes, and ensuring all work meets internal quality standards. This role focuses on careful handling of parts, accurate documentation, and efficient throughput while contributing to a collaborative, Lean-focused production environment. Responsibilities • Perform basic sheet metal operations, including hardware insertion according to program and tooling requirements., • Manually tap holes as required for various parts and assemblies., • Complete minor part assembly tasks such as riveting in accordance with work instructions., • Unload and stage parts from the laser, ensuring proper handling and organization., • Grain and deburr edges and surfaces to remove sharp edges and improve finish quality., • Obtain first article or setup approval from a lead, supervisor, or inspector before proceeding with production runs., • Check parts regularly for dimensional accuracy, quality, and conformance to drawings and specifications., • Maintain efficient production times and accurate part counts throughout the shift., • Accurately document work activities, including clock-in and clock-out, and other required production records., • Properly prepare, stage, and palletize parts for the next process or department., • Communicate clearly and promptly with supervisors, leads, and co-workers about job status, issues, and needs., • Notify the lead of any material, mechanical, or equipment issues that may affect production or quality., • Participate actively and positively in Lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities., • Follow ISO 9001 requirements and adhere to internal Quality Manual procedures., • Assist other team members as needed to support overall production goals., • Perform daily maintenance tasks on equipment and work areas as required., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times., • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and all safety requirements established by the company., • Engage in blameless problem solving and collaborative teamwork to address production challenges., • Exhibit a sense of urgency and a focus on delivering high-quality results for customers.Essential Skills, • Ability to operate machinery in various sheet metal production departments., • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals., • Ability to understand and follow detailed verbal instructions in a production environment., • Ability to read and understand shop orders, policies, and procedures., • Ability to read and interpret drawings for part features and requirements., • Ability to check quality using precision measuring equipment., • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and attention to detail., • Manual dexterity for handling small components, hardware insertion, tapping, and assembly., • Commitment to teamwork, including clear communication, active listening, and encouraging colleagues., • Demonstrated honesty and integrity, including honoring commitments and doing the right thing consistently., • Openness to Lean practices, including improving processes, sharing information, and exposing issues., • Results orientation, including analyzing data for improvement, taking ownership, and working efficiently., • Focus on excellence, including contributing solutions, maintaining a sense of urgency, and seeking knowledge., • Ability to work safely in a shop environment and follow OSHA and internal safety requirements., • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical activities required by the role, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, driving, and pushing/pulling within the specified time percentages.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High school graduate plus relevant vocational training in areas such as sheet metal work (beneficial but not required)., • Ability to create spreadsheets and graphs using Excel or equivalent software., • Ability to create and file work documents using standard office software., • Additional math skills related to algebra, geometry, and/or trigonometry., • Experience with assembly, machine operation, deburring, palletizing, and tapping in a production environment., • Comfort working with Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices., • Positive attitude with a focus on celebrating achievements and maintaining a constructive, fun work atmosphere.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a shop environment with a moderate noise level and exposure to dust, heat, and cold. You will spend a significant portion of your time standing and working at machines or workstations, with some sitting, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, twisting, kneeling, reaching above shoulder height, climbing, driving, and pushing or pulling as required. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and to maintain normal vision and hearing, with corrective lenses or hearing aids if needed. You will work with sheet metal fabrication equipment, precision measuring tools, and standard production machinery while adhering to OSHA and internal safety regulations. A neat, clean, and organized work area is expected, and attire should be appropriate for a shop setting with a focus on safety and practicality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
