JOB POSTING About the Role – Cable Technician ACG is seeking a skilled Cable Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cable systems across multiple job sites. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a consistent commitment to safety and quality standards. The Cable Technician plays a critical role in executing fiber optic, CATV, and structured cabling installations while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting overall project success. This position is ideal for technicians who enjoy field work, problem solving, and working as part of a disciplined, safety‐focused team. Schedule & Reporting • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (flexibility as required), • Employment Type: Regular, Full Time, • Reports To: Field Supervisor / Management Team, • Work Environment: Field‐based (multiple job sites, outdoor work zones) Company Culture • Safety‐first mindset on every job site, • Clear communication and documented work, • Accountability for quality and completion, • Respect for procedures, standards, and permits, • Team‐oriented, hands‐on field execution Compensation & Benefits • Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 (based on experience), • Paid Time Off (PTO): Accrued every pay period; increases with tenure, • Paid Holidays: 7 full paid holidays annually, • Half Day Holidays: Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve, • 401(k) Retirement Plan: 3.5% employer match, • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance: Available to eligible employees, • Training & Certifications: Technical and safety training supported What You Will Do Cable Installation & Technical Execution • Install, terminate, and test cable systems including fiber optic, CATV, and Cat5/Cat6, • Perform fiber splicing, cable labeling, and structured cabling installations, • Operate cable pulling systems, trenchers, and aerial lifts as required, • Support aerial and underground cable installations Testing, Troubleshooting & Quality • Conduct system testing using OTDRs, power meters, and diagnostic tools, • Troubleshoot and repair cable systems to ensure optimal performance, • Verify work meets project specifications and quality standards Documentation & Coordination • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications, • Maintain accurate records of installations, test results, and maintenance activities, • Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, and other trades on job sites Safety & Compliance • Follow all safety regulations, traffic control plans, and company procedures, • Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE in safe working condition, • Report hazards, incidents, or deviations immediately Performance Expectations First 30 Days • Demonstrate understanding of ACG safety policies and field procedures, • Complete installations with accurate labeling and documentation, • Follow testing and quality verification processes consistently, • Integrate effectively with field crews and supervision Ongoing Deliverables • Reliable, safe, and accurate cable installations, • Consistent testing and troubleshooting results, • Complete and timely documentation, • Ongoing compliance with safety and quality standards Required Experience & Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required, • Technical training or cabling certification preferred, • 1–3 years of experience in cable installation or related field, • Knowledge of fiber optic splicing and structured cabling systems, • Familiarity with aerial and underground cable installation, • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents, • OSHA certification preferred, • Valid driver’s license required Skills & Competencies • Fiber optic and structured cabling installation, • Cable splicing, termination, and testing, • Use of OTDRs, power meters, and test equipment, • Attention to detail and documentation accuracy, • Problem solving and troubleshooting, • Physical ability to work outdoors and in demanding environments, • Team collaboration and clear communication Work Expectations • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions, • Willingness to travel to job sites as required, • Flexible hours based on workload and project needs, • Ask questions immediately when plans or instructions are unclear—no assumptions, • Maintain professionalism, safety, and quality always Core Values • Accountability – Own results and follow through, • Character – Professional conduct and reliability, • Integrity – Honest work and accurate reporting, • Safety – Commitment to safe work practices, • Teamwork – Supports and collaborates with field teams, • Trustworthiness – Consistent and dependable execution Work Environment • Field‐based role with outdoor work and active job sites, • Exposure to construction environments and varying weather conditions Additional Notice This position is performance‐based.
