Advancement opportunities include: • Crew Member–Driver, • Assistant Lead Gardener, • Maintenance & Installation Lead Gardener Lead Gardener roles include additional benefits such as: • Higher pay ranges, • Work clothes allowance, • Extended Pay Option (after 2 years as a Lead), • Leadership training, • Ongoing training on trucks, trailers, and equipment To qualify for Lead roles, employees must complete equipment and driving training and 2–4 weeks in an Assistant Lead role. What You’ll Do (Crew Member Responsibilities) This is an entry-level support role for our horticulture crews. Tasks include: • Weeding, edging, trimming, raking, hedging, pruning, • Planting annuals, perennials, shrubs, • Mulching and general garden maintenance, • Using small equipment such as blowers, hedgers, and hand tools., • Supporting the Lead Gardener with daily operations, • Interacting with clients in a courteous, professional manner, • Maintaining property areas at MBG headquarters (gardens, compost, woody ornamentals, etc.) You will work both independently and as part of a supportive team. Work Schedule • March–December (seasonal), • Monday–Friday (Or part time, 2-4 days/week), • Start time between 7:00–8:00 AM, • End time between 3:30–4:30 PM, • Flexibility required—end times vary based on job site duties and travel time. Minimum Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have: • Reliable transportation and ability to consistently commute to our worksite, • Ability to work outdoors in all weather, including heat, rain, cold, and wind, • Ability to repetitively lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead, • Ability to walk or stand for long periods and navigate hills or uneven terrain, • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record (required for Driver roles; strongly preferred for all roles), • Ability to work a minimum of 2–3 full weekdays (full-time preferred), • Ability to follow direction, work safely, and exercise good judgment Preferred Experience (Not Required) • Gardening or landscaping experience, • Knowledge of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and basic plant identification, • Experience using gardening tools or small machinery, • Customer service experience, • Interest in horticulture and continuing education What Success Looks Like • Arrives reliably and on time, • Works hard with a positive, team-oriented attitude, • Communicates professionally with coworkers and clients, • Takes initiative and works proactively when independent, • Maintains a safe work environment and uses PPE properly, • Shows commitment to learning plant identification and gardening skills, • Contributes to a supportive, respectful workplace Additional Expectations • Must attend mandatory employee meetings, • Must review and follow the attendance policy, • Must be prepared for physically demanding work every day, • Must uphold Mary Berry’s Gardening values and professionalism, • Adhere to a smoke free and drug free workplace.
