Job Description Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Light Truck Driver. As a Light Truck Driver for WCRC you would perform manual labor in the operation of light to heavy duty trucks and motorized equipment to repair and maintain trunkline, primary/local roads and right-of-way. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties: (These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. • Operates trucks and equipment in the performance of winter maintenance operations., • Performs manual labor; digs ditches; cleans and installs culverts; removes debris from roadway and shoulders; prepares potholes, cracked, and broken pavement for patching; loads and unloads tools, equipment and materials., • Acts as a traffic regulator for road maintenance crews; directing traffic around hazards or work areas, and setting up temporary road signs, traffic cones, and barricades at work sites., • Operates trucks, trailers and related equipment; hauls and dumps road maintenance and repair materials, including asphalt, rock, liquid asphalt, aggregates and culvert pipes; loads and transports road equipment., • Uses chain saws, skid steers, chippers and related equipment to remove and/or trim fallen and existing trees and brush., • Conducts pre-trip/post-trip inspections, minor servicing, adjustment and maintenance on vehicles and equipment and assists shop staff with minor repairs and adjustments., • Performs crack seal operations that involve guiding emulsion wands over cracks in the roadway; fills cracks with hot bituminous emulsion and shovels stone chips from back of vehicle., • Keeps assigned vehicles and equipment clean, orderly and equipped with necessary tools and supplies. Qualified individuals will be expected to have: • A high school diploma or equivalent., • A valid Michigan Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions (excluding "K") and an "N" (tank) endorsement., • Must be able to respond within one hour for a call-in.
