Job DescriptionSalary: Job Description | Director of Transportation Full-Time | Company Headquarters | Orlando, Florida Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Location: Orlando, Florida About Your Role As the Director of Transportation, you will lead all aspects of the companys transportation operations for both iRent Everything and Rapid Response. You will ensure that all deliveries, installations, and pickups are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with DOT and company standards. This position requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in fleet management, operational excellence, and a deep understanding of event logistics coordination across multiple sites and timelines. What's a Typical Day Look Like? Your day will begin with reviewing fleet schedules, dispatch operations, and logistics for upcoming events. Youll work closely with drivers, dispatchers, and operations managers to ensure all deliveries and pickups are on time, safe, and compliant. Youll analyze fleet performance, oversee maintenance and DOT requirements, and lead initiatives to improve efficiency and cost management. Collaboration with other departments, particularly operations, sales, and warehouse logistics, is crucial to ensure every project runs smoothly from delivery to teardown. What Youll Do Your duties include, but are not limited to: Fleet & Logistics Management • Direct daily operations of transportation activities, including routing, dispatching, loading, and delivery for event equipment and tent structures., • Oversee a large fleet of commercial vehicles, ensuring optimal utilization, maintenance, and lifecycle planning., • Develop and maintain delivery and pickup schedules aligned with event timelines and client expectations., • Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and state transportation regulations, including driver qualifications, vehicle inspections, hours-of-service (HOS), and ELD requirements., • Lead all safety initiatives; conduct audits, accident reviews, and driver training programs to uphold a culture of safety and accountability., • Manage and mentor a team of drivers, dispatchers, and logistics coordinators., • Oversee driver hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management., • Collaborate with operations and sales teams to forecast transportation needs based on seasonal demand and event schedules., • Develop and manage transportation budgets, fuel costs, and capital expenditures for fleet replacement or expansion., • Oversee relationships with third-party carriers, maintenance vendors, and equipment leasing companies., • Negotiate service agreements and ensure vendors meet company safety and performance standards. What Were Looking For You are an experienced transportation professional with a passion for operational excellence and leadership in a fast-paced, service-oriented industry. Education & Experience • Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain, transportation management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)., • 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation or logistics operations, including at least 5 years in a leadership role., • Proven success managing commercial fleets in DOT-regulated environments., • Deep understanding of DOT compliance, fleet maintenance, and route optimization., • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment., • Proficiency with fleet management software, GPS/ELD systems, and Microsoft Office Suite., • Certified Transportation Professional (CTP), • Certified Director of Safety (CDS), • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred but not required What We Offer We recognize that our team is our greatest asset.
