Job Description Position: CDL Class A Driver Employment Type: Full Time – 1st Shift Position Type: Non Exempt Reports To: Plant Superintendent Principle Responsibilities The CDL Class A Driver is responsible for safely transporting precast and cast-stone products, raw materials, and equipment between company facilities and local job sites, ensuring timely deliveries and compliance with DOT regulations. Job Description This position reports directly to the Plant Superintendent. The CDL Class A Driver performs daily local deliveries within the Chicagoland area using company trucks and flatbed trailers. Occasional yard work and loading assistance may be required. Responsibilities include: • Maintain a strong focus on safety in all aspects of driving, loading, and unloading., • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation., • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload cast-stone and precast products using straps, chains, and other load-securement devices., • Operate company-owned flatbeds, dump trailers, and material-handling equipment as assigned., • Verify shipping documentation and ensure delivery accuracy at each destination., • Maintain a clean, organized truck interior and exterior., • Report any vehicle issues, damage, or mechanical problems to maintenance immediately., • Assist plant personnel with loading and yard organization when not driving., • Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety procedures and report unsafe conditions promptly., • Support efficient delivery scheduling and routing to minimize downtime and maximize productivity., • Complete delivery paperwork and return signed bills of lading, manifests, and time logs daily., • Perform local deliveries only (typically within a 100-mile radius of West Chicago)., • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Superintendent. Required Skill • Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record., • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience (flatbed experience strongly preferred)., • Knowledge of load-securement procedures and DOT tie-down requirements., • Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, or cranes preferred (certification not required)., • Working knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and inspection procedures., • Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently., • Excellent communication and organization skills., • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision., • Familiarity with delivery paperwork, route logs, and basic mobile communication tools., • Commitment to punctuality, professionalism, and consistent attendance. Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED required., • CDL Class A license with current medical card., • Minimum 2 years of verifiable CDL A driving experience required., • Experience transporting flatbed, oversize, or heavy construction materials preferred.
