Job Description Forklift driver 1st shift $18+ Job Description The Material Handler supports daily steel processing operations by safely moving, staging, and organizing materials using forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes. This role ensures materials are accurately labeled, documented, and returned to the correct storage locations to keep production running smoothly and efficiently on the second shift. Responsibilities • Locate and stage materials according to production requirements and work orders., • Operate sit-down forklifts to move and transport materials safely throughout the facility., • Use side loaders to handle long or specialized steel products as needed., • Operate overhead cranes to lift and move all materials over 35 pounds in a safe and controlled manner., • Accurately complete all required worksheets and work orders, ensuring clear and correct documentation., • Label materials clearly and return them to the correct storage locations after processing or staging., • Support picking, inventory, shipping, and receiving activities as needed to meet production and customer demands. Essential Skills • 3–5 years of forklift experience, with sit-down forklift operation strongly preferred., • At least 2 years of material handling experience in a manufacturing environment., • Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts in a busy warehouse or production setting., • Experience with general material handling tasks such as staging, picking, and organizing inventory. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
