The company supports clients across hazardous material surveys, exposure monitoring, indoor air quality assessments, microbial and moisture intrusion investigations, and building science-related consulting. Our clients include owners and developers, property and facility managers, tenants, insurers, general contractors, specialty contractors, and residential clients. Based in Aurora, Illinois, our team combines technical credibility with strong operational support, giving consultants the autonomy to manage their own projects and client relationships while having access to senior technical resources. Position Summary The Senior Consultant, Industrial Hygienist is a full-time, exempt professional who independently manages projects from proposal through field execution, reporting, and client follow-up. Exercising discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, the Senior Consultant, Industrial Hygienist owns client relationships, determines appropriate sampling strategies and methodologies, evaluates field conditions against applicable regulatory standards, and develops practical recommendations for clients. This is a high-autonomy consulting role for someone who wants to manage projects independently, grow within a respected indoor air quality and industrial hygiene consulting platform, and, as the role matures, mentor junior staff and support business development. As an individual contributor, the Senior Consultant, Industrial Hygienist's primary duty is the performance of technical field and office work directly related to the company's general business operations. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Project & Client Management • Manage projects from proposal development through field execution, reporting, recommendations, and follow-up., • Communicate service options, findings, limitations, and recommendations to clients with technical accuracy, professionalism, and emotional intelligence., • Support client relationship development, repeat work, and cross-selling across Indoor Science service lines. Asbestos Inspections & Sampling • Conduct asbestos building inspections in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements., • Perform asbestos air sampling and clearance-related services within the scope of applicable licensing and project requirements. Indoor Air Quality & Microbial / Moisture Investigations • Assess indoor environmental quality and occupational health concerns in offices, schools, homes, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and industrial sites., • Conduct microbial / moisture intrusion investigations, protocols, and clearance tests, including moisture mapping, IR scans, and air/surface sampling, with data interpretation and recommendations for corrective action. Occupational Exposure Monitoring • Evaluate industrial environments using area and personal monitoring strategies for contaminants such as RCS, particulates, VOCs, and other occupational exposure concerns., • Interpret sampling and measurement results, compare findings to applicable regulatory standards or recognized guidance, and develop practical recommendations. Reporting, Equipment & Compliance • Prepare high-quality written deliverables, including technical reports, sketches, drawings, remediation protocols, project specifications, and closeout documentation., • Maintain, calibrate, and care for field instruments, sampling pumps, and other equipment. Mentorship & Growth (as role grows) • Mentor junior staff, support QA/QC review, and help strengthen field methodology and reporting standards. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Minimum 3+ years of relevant consulting experience in asbestos inspections, indoor air quality assessments, microbial / moisture intrusion investigations, and occupational exposure monitoring., • Experience developing mold remediation protocols, post-remediation verification plans, or remediation scope recommendations., • Experience with RCS, VOC, particulate, metals, or other occupational exposure monitoring projects., • Ability to independently manage field work, client communication, sampling strategy, chain-of-custody documentation, and written reports., • Working knowledge of IICRC (S-500, 520, 700), OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, IDPH, ASHRAE, and other industry-recognized best practices relevant to industrial hygiene and IAQ consulting., • Strong written communication skills and ability to produce clear, defensible client-ready reports., • Professional presence, customer service orientation, and ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders., • General computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and report writing workflows., • Physically able to crawl, climb, use ladders, carry equipment, and walk on uneven surfaces as required for field assessments. Preferred Qualifications • Illinois Led Inspector and/or Illinois Lead Risk Assessor license preferred; Lead Risk Assessor strongly preferred., • Illinois Radon Measurement Professional or Radon Measurement Technician license preferred., • CIH, PE, CSP, CHMM, CIEC, CMC, or similar professional credential preferred but not required., • Experience with building envelope assessments including roof / facade leakage investigations, or HVAC / ventilation assessments., • Experience preparing asbestos abatement specifications, project designs, or contractor bid documents., • Experience mentoring junior consultants or reviewing technical reports., • Existing client relationships or business development interest is a plus, but not required.
