Job Description Position Summary: Lead and perform analytical testing on a variety of raw materials and chemical products. In addition to routine testing, this role involves developing and optimizing test methods, maintaining laboratory equipment, and contributing to continuous improvement of lab processes and documentation. Additional time will be spent assisting in quality assurance investigations and new product development testing. Primary/Essential Responsibilities: • Perform complex analytical testing on silicones, two-part epoxies, urethanes, plastics, and other raw materials using FTIR, DSC, titration, and mechanical testing equipment., • Develop, optimize, and validate standard testing procedures and work instructions., • Conduct QC testing on material properties such as viscosity, gel time, hardness, density, Tg, and mechanical strength., • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab instrumentation and equipment., • Lead investigations into non-conformances and support root cause analysis and corrective action and preventative action efforts., • Responsible for reviewing material test data and ensuring testing is in line with the plan and pre-test calculations and meets or exceeds G&W requirements., • Act as a technical resource for others in lab; provide training and method guidance as needed., • Ensure proper documentation, compliance with QMS protocols, and support updates in ETQ, JDE, or similar platforms., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, R&D, Quality) to resolve formulation and processing issues., • Proactively identify areas for improvement in lab operations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives., • Coordinates with test laboratory by writing test plans, evaluating vendor material products, documenting test results, and producing test reports., • Assist in troubleshoot material related processes employed throughout the global company and evaluate potential changes or improvements to the processes., • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing., • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and able to work well with others., • Create technical reports and method development procedures or standard work to be reviewed by peers and department leadership., • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, or related field, • Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience in a QC or analytical lab, preferably in chemical manufacturing or polymer systems, • Expertise in wet chemistry and instrumental techniques required including, • FTIR, • DSC, • Viscosity measurements, • Strong knowledge of laboratory data systems and documentation practices., • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot lab methods and instrumentation independently., • Excellent technical writing skills and verbal communication of testing results., • Able to effectively communicate (verbal, written, presentations) across all levels of the organization., • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision., • Proven experience with computers; Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project or equivalents. Preferred Qualifications: • Able to read and interpret technical standards., • Experience with thermoset systems (e.g., epoxies) and cure kinetics., • Experience with additional testing equipment including, • Shimadzu testers, • TGA, • Karl Fischer Titration, • Rheometer, • Medium and high voltage electrical industry experience, • The ideal candidate will have a history of creativity, innovation, and initiative. A self-starter driven to learn and develop testing methodologies.
