Job Description Now Hiring: Airport Operations Shift Supervisor Location: Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) | New Haven, CT Schedule: Full-Time | Includes shift work, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime Starting Pay: $29.00 per hour Reports to: Airside Operations Manager Tweed-New Haven Airport is seeking an experienced and dependable Airport Operations Shift Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight of both airside and landside operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and emergency readiness at the airport, especially during off-hours or when management is not present on site. The Shift Supervisor leads operational activities in accordance with FAR Part 139, TSA regulations, and Airport Security and Certification Plans. This position includes Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) duties, incident response, and supervision of Operations Specialists during assigned shifts. Key Responsibilities: • Represent airport management in day-to-day and irregular operations, • Serve as point of contact for tenants, contractors, and public stakeholders, • Conduct airside inspections and maintain records in compliance with FAR Part 139, • Issue NOTAMs and Field Condition Reports (FCR); coordinate maintenance and construction activity, • Lead response to aircraft emergencies, provide ARFF initial response, and establish incident command, • Coordinate mutual aid for fire and EMS response and assist with medical calls, • Supervise landside operations, including parking, terminal access, and traffic management, • Oversee and perform snow and ice removal per the Snow and Ice Control Plan (SICP), • Monitor airport security systems (access control, CCTV) and respond to security breaches, • Perform airport security inspections in compliance with TSR 1542, • Ensure compliance with Airport Rules, Regulations, and the Airport Security Plan, • Document all irregular events and manage the airport’s incident reporting systems, • Escort vendors and contractors as required across airport property, • Mentor and guide Airport Operations Specialists during assigned shifts, • Maintain up-to-date records and remain current on all required certifications and training, • Perform additional duties as assigned by Airport Management Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in airport management or related field preferred, • Minimum of 3 years of experience in airside operations and ARFF at a Part 139 airport required, • Applicants with a related degree may be considered with at least 1 year of experience, • Demonstrated ability to lead and make sound decisions independently, • Prior experience in snow removal, incident response, and airport security strongly preferred, • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record, • Must pass and maintain TSA security clearance, background check (including fingerprinting), and federally required drug screenings, • Must maintain the ability to pass required drug screenings throughout employment, • Willingness and availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed Required Certifications & Training: • ARFF training (with ability to wear SCBA), • Advanced ARFF/Vehicle Operator training (as prescribed), • AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) – Airfield Operations (Company reimbursable), • National Incident Management System (NIMS) Certifications: ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, • Airfield driver training (initial and recurrent), • Completion of all required regulatory training within designated probationary period, • Heavy snow removal equipment operation training Physical Requirements: • Regularly required to lift/move over 75 pounds, • Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, climb, and operate in all weather conditions, • Visual, auditory, and physical fitness required for safe performance of ARFF and operational duties Compensation & Benefits: • Starting wage: $29.00/hour, • Comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including:, • Annual pay increases and shift differential (as approved), • Medical, Dental, and Vision plan options, • Retirement Savings Plan, • Life, AD&D, and Disability insurance, • All benefits subject to Company policies and availability To apply, please submit your resume and confirm your ability to meet all pre-employment and ongoing training requirements.
