Job Description ROLE SUMMARY: The Production Manager is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across all production floors. This role leads and coaches Production Floor Managers, drives daily execution through disciplined management routines, and builds a continuous improvement culture using Lean / Six Sigma methods. The Production Manager owns labor accuracy and production reporting in the ERP, capacity and scheduling discipline, and variance analysis with clear corrective action. EDUCATION & LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations/Business, Supply Chain, or related field is preferred (or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience)., • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is strongly preferred; Black Belt is a plus., • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive manufacturing/production leadership experience (multi-area, multi-floor, or multi-shift preferred)., • At least 3+ years’ experience leading supervisors/managers with documented performance coaching and accountability routines., • Demonstrated hands-on implementation of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (5S, standard work, SMED, visual management, root cause problem solving)., • Working knowledge of time studies, standard times, and basic industrial engineering methods., • Experience using an ERP/MRP system for labor reporting, work orders, production transactions, and variance review., • Effectively manage and coach Production Floor Managers for each production floor through clear expectations, standard work, and consistent follow-up., • Conduct structured 1:1s with each Floor Manager (minimum weekly) focused on performance, coaching, and development; document commitments and follow-up., • Review Floor Manager performance against KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Systems discipline) and create corrective action plans when targets are missed., • Coach Floor Managers to drive employee accountability: daily expectations, recognition, corrective actions, and consistent documentation., • Require constant structured communication routines: start-of-shift huddles, tier meetings, end-of-shift handoffs, and escalation paths. Daily Execution & Production Control: • Own daily production execution: staffing alignment, line readiness, changeovers, work order release, and schedule adherence., • Coordinate constraints (materials, tooling, maintenance, staffing) and lead recovery planning when disruptions occur., • Maintain clear priorities and ensure Floor Managers execute the plan with discipline follow-through., • Plan, set up, and facilitate Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to improve throughput, reduce scrap/rework, and lower conversion cost., • Establish and maintain a CI pipeline (kaizen list) with measurable targets and ownership at the floor level., • Lead kaizen events (5S, standard work, SMED/changeover reduction, error-proofing, flow/pull) and require sustainment audits., • Lead structured problem solving using A3/DMAIC, 5-Why, fishbone, Pareto, and control plans, mentor Floor Managers in these tools., • Conduct timing studies and maintain standard times; ensure routing/work instructions reflect current best method., • Perform capacity studies by work center and product family; identify bottlenecks and recommend debottleneck actions., • Own capacity planning: headcount, overtime, shift patterns, equipment utilization targets, and cross-training plans to meet demand., • Own production scheduling discipline (weekly and daily): sequence work orders, plan changeovers, and manage constraints., • Ensure accurate labor corrections in the ERP for each punch-in employee and enforce supervisor compliance with the standard process., • Ensure accurate production transactions (completions, scrap, downtime reasons, rework) to support costing and decision-making., • Deliver variance analysis and reporting (labor, yield/scrap, downtime, throughput, schedule performance) with clear corrective actions, owners, and due dates., • Champion a safety-first culture; ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies; lead investigations and corrective actions., • Drive quality at the source: adherence to specs, work instructions, in-process checks, containment, and escalation., • Ensure training and qualification requirements are met and documented prior to independent operation., • Support audits and compliance requirements as applicable (quality system, customer requirements, etc.)., • Meet or exceed Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets across all production floors., • Demonstrate effective coaching and development of Floor Managers with measurable improvements in accountability and execution., • Sustain a visible continuous improvement pipeline with documented results (scrap reduction, downtime reduction, throughput improvement, lead time reduction)., • Maintain high ERP transaction accuracy and timeliness for labor and production reporting., • Provide timely, actionable variance reporting and lead countermeasure execution to closure., • Maintain schedule adherence with transparent recovery plans when disruptions occur.Company DescriptionGreaves Corporation is a U.S.-based manufacturer specializing in high-quality electrical connectors and adapters since 1947.
