Pay Rate: $16/hr About the Role: As a Host/Hostess at La Serre Brasserie in Ann Arbor, MI, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. Your primary goal is to warmly welcome guests, manage reservations, and efficiently coordinate seating to optimize the flow of the restaurant. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and organized environment by communicating effectively with both guests and the service team. This position requires attentiveness to guest needs and the ability to handle busy periods with professionalism and grace. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute significantly to guest satisfaction and the overall success of La Serre Brasserie. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent., • Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role preferred but not required., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills., • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment., • Experience working in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment., • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and reservation software such as OpenTable., • Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse guest population., • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism., • Greet and welcome guests promptly and courteously upon arrival., • Manage reservations and maintain an organized waitlist during peak hours., • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus, ensuring a smooth seating process., • Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to coordinate table availability and guest requests., • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host station and entrance area., • Answer phone calls to handle reservations, inquiries, and guest concerns professionally., • Assist in managing guest flow to minimize wait times and maximize seating efficiency. The required communication and interpersonal skills are essential for warmly greeting guests and managing their needs throughout their visit, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Organizational skills are used daily to efficiently manage reservations, waitlists, and seating arrangements, which helps maintain smooth restaurant operations.
