Job DescriptionJob Title: Prototype Machinist Job Description This Prototype Machinist role requires proficiency in CAD/CAM software to optimize geometry and part features for machining. You will be responsible for designing and fabricating custom fixtures, jigs, or other work-holding devices needed. Additionally, you will program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, and conditional switches. The materials used include aluminum, steels, inconel, and titanium. You are expected to plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, and interpreting geometric dimension and tolerances. Responsibilities • Optimize geometry and part features for machining using CAD/CAM software., • Design and fabricate custom fixtures, jigs, or work-holding devices., • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, and conditional switches., • Work with materials such as aluminum, steels, inconel, and titanium., • Plan machining tasks by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and orthographic drawings., • Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances.Essential Skills, • Proficiency in CNC programming with at least 10 years of experience in a prototype role., • Proficient understanding and ability to edit G and M code., • Experience cutting aluminum and steels., • Fanuc programming skills., • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Gibbscam, MasterCam, and Solidworks., • Familiarity with HAAS Mills and Lathes., • Knowledge of ANSL 14.5 and GDT Standards., • Experience with ISO standards., • Understanding of FAR and DFAR requirements and procedures.Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a small, entrepreneurial machine shop with 13 people, where team collaboration and a positive attitude are as important as skill set. Enjoy autonomy and ownership of your part in the product development process. The products are exciting and mount to military aircraft, boats, and ground vehicles. First shift runs from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with optional overtime until 5:00 pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottsdale, Arizona. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
