Nanterre
About us Recupere Metals has developed a new wire‑forming technology that produces high‑conductivity copper wire without the need for 99.95 % pure copper raw materials. No smelting. No refining. Just a smarter process. By eliminating these costly and highly polluting steps, we are considerably reducing the overall cost of copper‑wire production while putting millions of tonnes of copper scrap currently unsuitable for electrical use. Our technology paves the way for fully circular and cost‑effective copper‑wire production, an essential piece of the global energy transition. We have raised our first round of funding from leading investors, secured strong interest from large commercial offtakers, and demonstrated that we have a way of boosting the world's production of recycled copper. We’re now building our core team, and it’s the perfect time to jump on board. About the role: Lab Technician We’re looking for a Lab Technician to take full ownership of day-to-day operations of our lab/pilot wire manufacturing line (cast → deform → anneal → test) and reliably deliver kilograms of conforming bobbins. Your mandate is to run, stabilise, and improve the end-to-end process, turning lab runs into repeatable production while freeing engineering time. • Contract: CDI (permanent), • Location: Nanterre HQ lab (minimal travel; occasional supplier/site visits), • Language: English fluency required. French is a strong plus. Your responsibilities • Plan and execute production batches: prepare feedstock, define pass schedules, and set anneal recipes to meet properties targets., • Set up and operate the lab casting machine (wire rod), deformation machines (wire pressing and cold-drawing benches), and annealing oven. Select/change dies, align tooling, manage lubricants, and handle reels/bobbins., • Run quality control end-to-end: IACS conductivity and tensile testing (sampling, calibration, data logging), with full lot traceability., • Monitor and tune process parameters (reductions per pass, lubrication, anneal curves)., • Document methods and results: create/update standard operating procedures, setup sheets, pass schedules, anneal profiles, test reports, and calibration records., • Drive throughput and yield: track cycle times, scrap/breaks, and uptime. Propose fixture/tooling tweaks and small continuous-improvement experiments., • Own first-level maintenance and safety: organise spares, implement 5S, perform routine checks, and enforce LOTO and lab safety procedures., • Collaborate closely with R&D/Process to prioritise runs, investigate anomalies, and industrialise successful parameters. Ideal background • 5–10 years in non-ferrous wire manufacturing (ideally copper): wire drawing, rolling, or rod casting, or a seasoned metallurgical lab technician from cable/wire producers or copper foundries., • Strong understanding of mechanical processing + heat treatment interactions (grain size vs. conductivity/strength)., • Hands-on with die selection and reduction ladders, lubricants/coolants, and basic furnace programming., • Proficient in metrology: IACS conductivity, tensile test; comfortable with sampling, calibration., • Lean basics (5S, changeover mindset) and clear, rigorous documentation., • French technical credentials such as BTS/DUT/BUT Génie des matériaux/GMP or equivalent; Licence Pro or equivalent experience welcome. Nice to have • Lab or startup experience (low-volume, high-iteration environments)., • Continuous anneal experience; preventive maintenance on drawing benches and ovens., • Exposure to ISO 9001 control plans and lot traceability. What we offer We’re building a world‑class industrial deep‑tech company from the ground up. You'll play a key role in scaling a technology that directly impacts global electrification and the circular economy. This is a rare opportunity to shape the industrial future of a critical material at the heart of the energy transition. • CDI contract, • Competitive compensation, • 50 % health‑insurance coverage, • Hybrid work model (office in Nanterre), • Direct influence on a flagship project at the heart of the energy‑transition supply chain We believe deep tech needs deep diversity. If you’re excited by our mission but don’t tick every single box, we still want to hear from you. Versatility and a hunger to learn are essential at this stage of our journey.
