Who we are Teens Unite is an energetic, ambitious, and fast-growing charity dedicated to improving the lives of 13–24-year-olds during, and after cancer. We're not a medical charity - we don ’t exist to cure cancer. We empower young people to live positively with cancer and thrive beyond it. We organise activities, programmes, and residential stays, that provide teenagers and young adults with opportunities to enjoy new experiences, develop skills, and connect with others who truly understand their experiences. Our presence is expanding – in 2024 alone, our social content was viewed over 5.5 million times, and we ’ re on a mission to extend our reach even further. We're seeking a Marketing and Comms Executive to build our profile as a recognised and trusted charity that people want to support, and that young people turn to as they navigate their cancer journey. We're preparing to launch a capital appeal to open the UK’s first dedicated retreat for teenagers and young adults diagnosed with cancer. Alongside this, we're broadening our local and national presence, developing our retail outlet, and building strong partnerships with major brands. Who you are You're a motivated marketeer with experience in the sector, or a relevant qualification, and you're ready to flourish in your career. You'll be a strong and versatile writer with a flair for producing clear, compelling copy across a variety of platforms, and a genuine enthusiasm for effective communication. Working closely with the Brand and Comms Manager, you'll take the lead on written outputs across the full marketing mix – from drafting and publishing our regular newsletter, supporting our capital appeal, to writing engaging campaign content that raises awareness locally and nationally. You'll also be instrumental in crafting communications that promote our retail outlet, strengthen partnerships with leading brands and raise awareness and support for young people living with and beyond cancer. Key responsibilities: • Support the planning and delivery of high-impact awareness and fundraising campaigns throughout the year, • Take the lead on championing Teens Unite in the local community, building awareness and driving support of Teens Unite's retail outlet through creative campaigns, • Support our capital appeal by helping to raise awareness and funds for the UK’ s first dedicated retreat for young people diagnosed with cancer, • Create engaging marketing materials for a range of audiences – from eye-catching event leaflets to information resources for young people diagnosed with cancer, • Use engaging copy to keep our website fresh and create engaging newsletters, • Edit and share our beneficiary stories that highlight the impact of our work and events Support PR and media outreach to spread our message locally and nationally, • Showcase Teens Unite on event days and maximise opportunities for further engagement, • Thank and celebrate our supporters through imaginative and heartfelt communications, • Be a guardian of the Teens Unite brand, ensuring a consistent and professional voice across all platforms, • Manage marketing resources, ensuring stock of leaflets, merchandise, and other materials is well maintained Person Specification Essential: • Previous experience in a marketing or communications role, or a marketing-related qualification, • Excellent copywriting and communication skills, • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to brand guidelines, • Confident in using all major social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), • An understanding of AI tools and how to use them Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, • Creative, proactive, and full of ideas to help take Teens Unite ’ s marketing to the next level, • A collaborative, positive, and enthusiastic approach, with the ability to take ownership of tasks, • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, driven to achieve results, and motivated to contribute ideas and a willingness to go above and beyond for the success of the team and charity as a whole, • Desirable Experience working within the charity sector Knowledge of Canva or other design platforms, • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, • Experience working with website CMS systems Reporting to: Brand & Communications Manager Location: Head Office - Broxbourne, Hertfordshire (a minimum of four days in the office). Citizens Advice Harlow, in partnership with Citizens Advice Essex, has secured Ministry of Justice funding to deliver advice and support to people on probation across Harlow and the Cambridgeshire PCC area. In this role, you will: · Deliver one-to-one financial capability coaching to build confidence in managing money day-to-day and long term. · Provide advocacy to help clients access bank accounts, ID documents, and benefits. · Challenge financial barriers such as sanctions or benefit refusals that risk destitution and reoffending. · Support clients to manage or avoid debt, with clear pathways to specialist Citizens Advice debt advice. · Refer clients for wider Citizens Advice support, including energy, employment, and family issues. We’re looking for someone with proven advice skills, strong communication and advocacy abilities, and the confidence to manage a caseload to a high standard. You can be based at our Harlow office, or work remotely from Cambridge or Peterborough, but regular visibility in local probation offices will be expected. Pre-employment checks This role is dependent on DBS and passing probation service security checks. Before commencing this role, the successful candidate will be required to gain clearance through HMPPS vetting to enhanced Level 1 and a Standard DBS through us. Role Profile Working closely with the CEO, Head of Advice and Supervisors · To provide advice and casework to people on probation, covering benefits entitlements and debt advice, and in respect to beneficiaries gaining an understanding of and access to key financial services · Assistance to clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case · Acting for the client, where necessary, by calculating, negotiating, drafting, or writing letters and telephoning · Negotiating with third parties as appropriate · Ensuring income maximisation through the take-up of appropriate welfare benefits · To assist clients in making applications for charitable funds where appropriate · To provide practical support and advice about arranging banking or other financial services · To coach or support individuals – by ensuring individuals can acquire new knowledge and skills necessary to claim benefits, and access banking and other financial products and services · To identify key information about the problem including time limits, key dates, and requirements for urgent advice or action (using the Citizens Advice public website, scripts, and any other diagnostic tools as necessary) · To assess and agree the appropriate level of service, taking into consideration the client’s ability to take the next step themselves, the complexity of the problem, and the organisation’s resources · To refer clients appropriately (both internally and externally) to suit clients’ needs following agreed protocols, including making arrangements and informing clients of what to expect · To maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation conforming to the Advice Quality Standard · To assess client’s problem(s) using sensitive listening and questioning skills · To signpost clients appropriately to suit their needs, following agreed protocols · To assist with research and campaigns work by providing information about clients’ circumstances One Adviser will be located in Harlow or hybrid working, but must have visibility in the Harlow Probation Office, for a 12 month maternity cover starting in November 2025.
