Position: R&D Engineer Contract: Permanent, Full Time Location: Worcestershire (Hybrid Working Available) Salary: up to £45,250 plus performance bonus (paid twice yearly in June & December payslip), Plus Flexitime (employees can choose their working pattern) Industry: Oil & Gas PRS Engineering has engaged with a key client and a leading Oil & Gas Equipment manufacturer based in the Worcestershire area. Due to team expansion and booming industry, we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis. Products you will be involved in, Filters, Strainers, Separators, Flame Arrestors, Skid Packages, Piping Systems, Pressure Vessels. Summary of Job: • Taking concept designs to production within an agreed time frame, utilising the latest 3D modelling techniques, • Producing technical manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks for production of equipment, • Producing design calculations using software packages, i.e. SolidWorks Flow Simulation and supervised simulation, • Product development including research and supervised prototype testing to optimise performance and cost, • Producing concept designs and production models to agreed specifications, • Overseeing the company’s PED approvals to ensure the standard product ranges are kept up to date Staff relationship: • Directly responsible to the Engineering Manager, • Supervised by the Lead Engineers & Primary Engineers during project work, • Works with Test Engineers/Production personnel where testing/practical work is required, • Liaises with technical analysts, for checking and support, as and when required, • Liaises internally with all departments, • Liaises with suppliers, including third party inspection bodies, • Works closely with the Technical Director Experience and qualifications: • Proficient in 3D modelling (SolidWorks), including assemblies and configurations, • Experience with 2D drafting (AutoCAD or similar) from in-house training, • Higher National Certificate (HNC) qualified in Mechanical Engineering (with practical experience), • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, • Proficient in Physics and Mathematics Duties and responsibilities: • Shall be fully committed to the achievement of the company policies and objectives with special respect to quality, safety and environment, • Working to agreed task lists for R&D, technical and project work and seeking clarification from the Engineering Manager, as required, • Design: this shall include, but not be limited to: -Research into specifications, materials and components, as instructed Design calculations and simulation, • Material Procurement: issuing material requisitions for project and technical work, • Assisting the Technical Director with SolidWorks PDM administration, • Liaising with the Engineering Manager and Design Engineers to ensure the project/task is fully understood, • SolidWorks technical drawings for manufacture and assembly in accordance with company standards to agreed time schedules, • Integration of common parts/standardisation and finalisation of materials and components, • Ensuring the designs are safe and in accordance with the Health and Safety Act and other governing legislations, i.e., Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED), • Creating final assembly models from concepts through the necessary procedures (Where applicable, functional/process testing to establish equipment is ‘fit for purpose’) • Compilation of flow test results from test engineers with supervised validation from, • Witness of pressure testing/flow testing to confirm acceptability of design, • Documentation: responsible for the organisation and preparation of all engineering documentation requirements, ensuring they are issued, as required by the project, • Responsible for the compilation of Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) approval documentation for issue to notified bodies, to enable approval of design This shall include (but not limited to): - • Selection of conformity assessment modules o Manufacturing and GA drawings (for the product range) o Working procedures o Sales Data Sheets Qualifications/Experience Minimum GCSE Grade 5 (equivalent grade C) or higher in Maths, English & Science HNC in Mechanical Engineering essential Essential knowledge of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel) required A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Research and Development Practical skills in manufacturing, welding, piping and materials essential Experience using Adobe Acrobat AutoCAD experience essential SolidWorks & 3D Modelling ASME PV code knowledge preferred (i.e., ASME VIII) Experience of working within the Oil & Gas industry preferred Experience of filters, strainers and pressure vessels preferred Benefits • Company bonus, • Company pension scheme, • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), • Life insurance (death in service), • 23 days holiday (19 floating days, 4 fixed towards Christmas shutdown) +extra service days +Bank Holidays +Birthday Leave (after 2 full calendar years’ service), • Training opportunities, • Free eye tests and contribution towards lenses/spectacles for VDU users, if appropriate, • Social events organised and funded by the company, • Corporate gym discount

Summary of Job: • Responsible for various ongoing projects including the cost-effective design, material procurement, instigation, control and compilation and submission of all associated engineering documentation Staff relationship: • Directly responsible to the Engineering Manager and Lead Engineer in their absence, • Liaises internally with all departments, • Liaises externally with clients, certified authorities, third party inspection bodies, suppliers, sub-contractors, etc. Duties and responsibilities: • Shall be fully committed to the achievement of the company policies and objectives with attention to quality, safety and environment, • Will undertake reasonable instructions from senior personnel in the best interests of the company, • Special respect shall be paid to quality and safety and include but not be limited to the following:, • Assisting Sales in the preparation of quotation drawings/documentation (workload permitting), • Assisting R&D in the development of new equipment/new product ranges (workload permitting), • Assisting R&D in the creation of standard 3D models and library parts (workload permitting) Design • Creating cost effective designs by integration of common parts and standardisation of components, • Producing General Arrangement drawings, Manufacturing drawings and Technical Specifications, • Producing 3D models for estimating weights, volumes, interferences, determining complex geometry, etc., • Verification of designs by calculations and/or FEA/CFD (analysis to be carried out under supervision), • Designing products that are safe and in accordance with Health & Safely legislation, • Designing products that comply with applicable design codes, e.g. ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, etc., • Designing products that comply with applicable governing legislation, e.g. 2014/68/EU (PED) Material Procurement • Producing material requisitions in order to ensure all material/quantity/technical requirements are identified, • Using standard components and referencing part numbers from the ‘Operations’ system, where possible, • Instigation and ongoing control of appropriate projects/contracts from Sales hand-over through to delivery, • Liaison with Quality/Production to ensure ‘sub-contract’ and ‘in-house’ activity is considered and controlled, • Organisation and preparation of all engineering documentation requirements, as required by the contract, • Submission of required contract documentation to client/third party, via the Documentation department Qualifications, Experience & Skills • Minimum GCSE Grade 5 (equivalent grade C) or higher in Maths & English, • HNC in Mechanical Engineering essential, • Essential knowledge of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel) required, • Experience using Adobe Acrobat, • AutoCAD experience essential, • SolidWorks & 3D Modelling, • Knowledge of manufacturing, welding, piping and materials essential, • Experience of working within the Oil & Gas industry preferred Benefits • Company bonus, • Company pension scheme, • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), • Life insurance (death in service), • Training opportunities, • Free eye tests and contribution towards lenses/spectacles for VDU users, if appropriate, • Social events organised and funded by the company, • Corporate gym discount
