Job Description: Site Manager Wash Plant & Aggregates Operations Location: Kirkby, Liverpool (L33) Salary: £45,000 £52,000 per year Overtime: £25.00 per hour Hours: Monday Friday 07:00 17:00 | Saturday 07:00 12:00 Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Site Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a busy wash plant and aggregates processing site in Kirkby. This role carries full operational responsibility for the entire site including wash plant operations, crushing, screening, stockpiling, loading, yard management, and traffic control . You will lead site operations from the ground up coordinating teams, maintaining production targets, ensuring health and safety compliance, and directly managing material flow across the site. This is a hands-on leadership role , requiring regular operation of heavy plant (particularly a loading shovel) to maintain real-time oversight of yard operations and ensure efficient site productivity. Key ResponsibilitiesSite & Yard Management Take full responsibility for theday-to-day running of the site, including wash plant, crushing, screening, loading, and yard activities. Plan and coordinate daily operations to ensureefficient material flow and maximum productivity. Manage site layout, stockpiles, vehicle movements, and loading operations to minimise delays and congestion. Hands-On Plant Operation Regularly operate theloading shovelto control stockpiling, vehicle loading, and yard movements. Maintainreal-time oversight of operationswhile coordinating drivers, plant operators, and material priorities. Identify and resolve operational issues immediately to maintain productivity and safety. Step into operational tasks when required to prevent downtime. Wash Plant Coordination Work closely with theWash Plant Managerto align plant output with overall site demand. Integrate wash plant production with yard operations, stockpiling, crushing, and screening. Maintain clear communication across teams to prevent bottlenecks or operational delays. Crushing, Screening & Production Oversight Supervise crushing, screening, and yard processing operations. Monitor production performance, plant utilisation, and material output. Take corrective action where performance falls below expectations. Leadership & Team Management Lead and coordinate site personnel through Supervisors and operational managers. Ensure all staff are properlyinducted, trained, and competentin their roles. Allocate labour and plant resources efficiently to meet daily targets. Conduct performance reviews and manage underperformance where necessary. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Maintain full responsibility forsite health, safety, and environmental standards. Ensure compliance withRAMS, permits, company policies, and legal regulations. Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and regular site inspections. Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented. Plant & Equipment Management Oversee availability, condition, and utilisation of allsite machinery and equipment. Ensure maintenance schedules are followed for crushing, screening, and yard plant. Coordinate planned maintenance and downtime with operational teams. Quality Control Ensure all processed materials meet requiredquality and grading specifications. Conduct regular inspections of stockpiles and finished products. Address quality issues quickly through operational or maintenance adjustments. Reporting & Planning Provide regular updates to senior management onproduction levels, safety, and operational performance. Lead weekly reviews covering site safety, staffing, output, and maintenance. Escalate risks early and propose practical solutions. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improveefficiency and reduce operational costs. Drive improvements across site layout, workflow processes, and plant utilisation. Support the implementation of best practices across the site. What Were Looking For Proven experience managingaggregates, recycling, quarry, or wash plant operations. Strong knowledge ofcrushing, screening, and bulk material handling environments. Experience operating heavy plant, particularlyloading shovels. Strong leadership skills with experience managingsite teams and supervisors. Excellent understanding ofhealth and safety regulations in industrial environments. Ability to lead from the front with ahands-on management approach.
