APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.\n\nOverview of the role\n\nAs our built environment team continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding Buildings team in either our Bristol or Cardiff office.\n\nAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the delivery of projects including cost planning, procurement, contract administration and financial reporting throughout the RIBA stages, working on a variety of projects across a diverse client base including Central Government, Local Authority and the Private Sector.\n\nKey responsibilities and duties include:\n\n * Preparation of cost plans, cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents\n\n * Leading the procurement process including issuing enquiries, evaluating tenders, and preparing recommendations\n\n * Measurement and quantification\n\n * Responsible for managing change control, including risk management, value engineering and cost control measures\n\n * Prepare benchmarking analyses and contribute to capturing project benchmark data\n\n * Responsible for preparation and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts\n\n * Prepare recommendations for payment\n\n * Valuing construction works including site visits and liaising with subcontractors\n\n * Maintain accurate records of project progress, variations, and contractual correspondence\n\n * Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards\n\n * Manage project costs and provide regular financial reports to Project Director\n\n * Collaborate with project managers, designers and clients to ensure commercial objectives are met\n\n * Support and advise the Project Manager in fulfilling contractual obligations and compiling contract documents\n\n * Supporting internal business development initiatives\n\nCandidate specification\nEssential:\n\n * BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)\n\n * Chartered status preferably MRICS\n\n * Experience of working within a professional environment within a Cost Consultancy/Main Contractor\n\n * Demonstratable relevant cost management experience in the Buildings Sector\n\n * Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a larger team\n\n * Ability to deliver multiple concurrent outputs under deadlines\n\n * Practical experience with contract forms (e.g., NEC and JCT)\n\n * Experience with commercial software and tools (CEMAR)\n\n * Strong communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills\n\n * Demonstrable knowledge and application of pre and post contract cost management\n\n * Experience using industry recognised measurement software and tools e.g. Cost X\n\n * To support development of colleagues within the regional team and drive technical excellence and continuous improvement\n\nDesirable:\n\nDemonstrate alignment with our Mott MacDonald PRIDE values: Progress, Respect, Integrity, Drive, Excellence\n\nExcellent oral and written communication and organisation skills\n\nSoft skills including self-motivation, initiative, leadership, adaptability, flexibility, effective listening, collaboration, influence and persuasion, insightfulness\n\nDrive to innovate and implement best practice\n\nAbility to prioritise and able to work under pressure\n\nAbility to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues\n\nEffective time management\n\nCustomer focus\n\nUK Immigration\n\nMott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK.
