About The Role Job level: 11 Were growing our team! Were looking for Principal Technology Consultants who will serve as key leaders on client-facing projects. This role involves guiding clients through complex digital transformations by delivering high-level strategic advice, technical architecture, and impactful solutions tailored to meet their business objectives. The Principal Technology Consultant will work in partnership with clients to design new services and technology operating models that are context-specific, user-centred, and sustainable. You will be accountable for running projects, leading teams to advise clients on technology strategy, carrying out research, relaying your findings through reports and diagrams, translating insights into architecture, and making recommendations. Throughout, you will highlight how technology choices can impact people, processes and budgets. Your work will be human-centred, design-led, and agile. As a principal consultant, you will lead projects but may also work solo or contribute as a member of a team as needed. You will be the source of technical oversight and advice for the wider team and for the client. The Principal Technology Consultant will also drive the growth of the Technology Strategy and Architecture practice, contribute to business development, and mentor other consultants and architects. Provide strategic oversight and expert guidance in technology and digital transformation engagements. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, building trust with C-level executives and senior stakeholders. Lead the design and implementation of technology, digital, and data strategies and architecture that enhance business outcomes. Design future-state solution and enterprise architectures and IT operating models. Create artefacts such as technology roadmaps, options appraisals, and architecture diagrams. Conduct thorough technical assessments and provide actionable recommendations for decision-makers. Explain the potential impact, costs, benefits, and risks of recommendations. Advising on AI adoption, assessing AI readiness and defining appropriate operating models and assurance frameworks for AI development, deployment and usage Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions with clients and users. Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate with client teams to align technical solutions with organisational strategies and user needs. Lead multidisciplinary teams across design, data, and delivery. Support bids and pre-sales activities, shaping approaches and delivery models. Stay ahead of industry trends and drive the adoption of innovative technologies within client environments. Advocate for best practices and process improvement. Promote ethical, inclusive, and sustainable technology practices. Mentor and develop other consultants and architects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Line management of 0-4 other consultants, dependent on business need. Provide thought leadership and contribute to business development and marketing activities. About You Professional knowledge and experience Essential Extensive experience in technology consulting, with a strong track record of leading the delivery of complex digital transformation projects. In-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture including common enterprise IT landscapes, software engineering methods, data and cloud platforms, and experience developing future state architectures Strong understanding of up-to-date concepts and principles across information technology, enterprise architecture, software, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity Experience defining technical and functional requirements, and guiding the prioritisation of requirements Experience of solution design and architecture diagrams to present technical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences Experience running workshops, interviews, or training with business users Experience influencing and advising senior stakeholders and building trust with teams and clients Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, with strong project management skills. Expertise in communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience delivering projects in a consultancy environment Experience advising on the governance of IT services Experience designing, implementing, or evaluating strategies, with the ability to anticipate and plan for future challenges Experience analysing IT system capabilities, evaluating products, and engaging technology suppliers during or before procurement processes Experience in multiple parts of the product life cycle and understanding appropriate activities at each stage. Champion of user needs and user research in the context of technology strategy Committed to personal and professional development, staying abreast of industry trends. Commitment to driving sustainable and ethical technology practices. A technology and platform agnostic perspective. Desirable Experience working in diverse, remote, and multi-disciplinary teams Experience with agile methodologies Experience working in or with public sector organisations Experience identifying opportunities and converting these to new business.
