Electrical Design Engineer - Harrogate (Hybrid) £45,000 - £55,000 basic, plus bonus, and benefits Client, Job Role, and expectations With over 25 years' combined experience within the industry, our client has an enviable reputation as a leading MEP services design consultancy providing sustainable long-term building and engineering solutions which fulfil their clients' needs. They have a host of clients with an extensive portfolio of projects across all sectors including, but not limited to; education, commercial, industrial, local authority, HMP, residential, healthcare, infrastructure, utilities, leisure. Role responsibilities The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for managing the workload and technical standard of local design engineering with the support of the Project Lead and Manager. They will be responsible for producing fee proposals and for monitoring the resource profile and profitability of the projects they work on, with support provided as required to develop these skills. The Electrical Engineer will be capable of the full design of Electrical (maybe some mechanical) services including preparation of drawings, calculations, Contractors' proposals, and all relevant supporting documentation for projects at Pricing and Construction stages to ensure the clients' requirements are met. You'll be supported and encouraged to work towards Chartership, if not already. Technical Supporting the Lead Engineer with input to the production of monthly management reports Supporting the Directors with design queries Taking part in regular Principal Engineer meetings as required by the Lead Engineer, to discuss design department matters including, resource, projects, design issues etc. Attending design meetings with client/Lead Engineer to accept design brief and/or advise on proposed work Arranging required survey work Preparation of Contractors' Proposals Arranging the preparation of drawings and technical back-up for planning applications Responsibility for design of electrical / mechanical services inclusive of calculations, layout drawings and specifications Carry out design reviews in line with design QA documents Participation in project hand over meetings including defects and incomplete works inspections Ensuring team members are kept abreast of all new developments in sustainable technology and associated training schemes Carry out Technical Presentations to End Users, Clients, and staff On BIM enabled Projects, information roles and duties as defined in ISO 19650 and / or the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP) Personal Attributes Identifies ways to improve the business and encourages others to do the same. Takes personal responsibility for driving change forward Ability to work calmly and effectively in a pressurised environment Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills Client focused, professional with the requisite skills to establish and maintain relationships Able to successfully influence at team and regional level Shows others how they can benefit and contribute to the business going forward, delegating appropriately whilst maintaining accountability and oversight Willingness to learn and pass on knowledge to all members of the team Works in collaboration with other teams across the organisation to achieve business goals Knows the marketplace, competition, risks, and issues faced by the business Experience/Qualifications Proven ability to support Managers Relevant formal qualifications are required covering all aspects of Electrical Building services with substantial experience in the design and calculation of: Electrical - Commercially ware design of small power, lighting emergency, lighting (external and internal), fire alarm, security, data and utilities Computer literate with a working knowledge of AutoCAD and design package software including: Dialux, Relux, Amtech Preferred - Working knowledge of Recit MEP Electrical Design Services Mains and sub-mains power distribution Cable containment systems Small power & ancillary services Inetrnal & external lighting systems Emergency lighting systems Specialist lighting design and control systems Fire Alarm systems Security systems: Intruder, CCTV, Panic alarm, Door access Lighting protection systems Data & communication services Earthing and bonding requirements Standby generation & UPS systems Power and controls wiring associated with mechanical services systems Power requirements associated with sustainable systems TPBN1_UKTJ
