Their approach is rooted in collaboration, technical excellence, and designing buildings that add long-term value for clients and communities.They are now looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with building services experience to join a multi-disciplinary in-house team, including M&E engineers, structural engineers, architects, and specialist consultants.The organisation promotes an inclusive workplace culture, strong professional development, and has been recognised in national and regional employer rankings.Your new roleAs a Mechanical Design Engineer / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in building services, you will: • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop mechanical building services designs aligned with client briefs, budgets, and project programmes, • Lead the mechanical aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with building regulations, statutory requirements, and industry standards, • Produce concept and detailed mechanical designs focusing on energy efficiency, lifecycle performance, and ease of maintenance, • Undertake site surveys, feasibility assessments, and technical reviews, • Provide professional advice on HVAC, public health systems, heating, cooling, and ventilation strategies, • Support and mentor colleagues to maintain high technical and design standards, • Assist with project financial reporting and forecasting, • Strong collaboration skills for working with M&E, architectural, and structural teams, • Proven experience in mechanical design, site surveys, and project delivery, • Ability to manage complex projects, including budgets and final accounts, • HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or willingness to work towards it, • Strong customer focus and a drive to improve building performance and user outcomes, • Good problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise in a busy project environment, • Up-to-date knowledge of building regulations, legislation, sustainability standards, and industry best practice Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
