Job Title: Care Assistant Location: Castlepark, Irvine (KA12), KA12 8SZ Reports to: Senior Carer / Nurse / Care Home Manager Job Purpose To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and wellbeing at all times. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, administering or assisting with medications (where applicable), and maintaining a safe and supportive environment in accordance with care plans and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Personal Care & Support Assist residents with washing, bathing, dressing, and toileting. Support mobility needs, including the use of hoists, wheelchairs, and walking aids. Help residents with eating and drinking, including preparing meals and assisting where needed. Promote independence while offering necessary support. 2. Medication Awareness Assist in administering medication in line with care plans and policies. Maintain accurate records of medication administration and report any discrepancies. Monitor for side effects and escalate any concerns to senior staff or nurses. 3. Health & Safety Monitor and record residents health and wellbeing, reporting changes to senior staff. Follow infection prevention and control procedures. Maintain a clean and safe environment in residents rooms and communal areas. 4. Emotional & Social Support Provide companionship and emotional support to residents. Engage residents in activities and encourage participation in social events. Respect residents privacy, dignity, and cultural preferences. 5. Record Keeping & Communication Accurately complete care records and documentation. Report incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns promptly. Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and families. Reliable and flexible approach to working hours. Qualifications & Experience Experience in a care environment (desirable, but training can be provided). NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or willingness to work towards it. Experience in medication awareness essential. MAPA or PMVA training (desirable). Basic knowledge of health and safety, safeguarding, and moving & handling. UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (preferred). SSSC registration (Mandatory).
