About the Role We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Assistant to Quality Manager to join our high performing Quality Control team at our Leeds manufacturing site. Reporting to the Site Quality Manager, the role is responsible for the supervision and monitoring of Quality Control staff, ensuring all employees are always effectively deployed and contribute to their continuous training & development to achieve high performance standards. You will effectively manage the day to day running of the Department to ensure that all manufactured ware is fit for purpose and meets both Company and customer requirements. In addition, you will collate, review, and analyse production/complaint performance data to formulate and contribute to corrective actions, as well as update and maintain the factory operations data systems. You will also produce clear, explanatory reports and documents to be distributed on Company noticeboards for communication purposes. Liaising with customers and facilitating actions required in response to complaints and requests received is also a key requirement of this role, as well as monitoring and reviewing the validity of Company Quality standards and contributing suggestions to ensure continuous improvement. Providing an administration service to the Site Quality Manager, including participating in quality/production meetings is also essential. Responsibilities • Support the day‑to‑day running of the Quality Department, ensuring that all manufactured ware is fit for purpose and meets both Company and customer requirements., • Collate, review, and analyse production and complaint performance data to identify trends and contribute to corrective actions., • Update and maintain factory operations data systems, producing clear, informative reports and documents for communication via Company noticeboards., • Liaise with customers and facilitate actions in response to complaints and requests., • Monitor and review the effectiveness and validity of Company Quality standards and contribute suggestions to support continuous improvement initiatives across the site., • Provide an administration and support service to the Site Quality Manager, including participation in quality and production meetings and supporting wider departmental activities. Qualifications • Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent in areas such as Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline; however, this is not essential., • Previous experience working within a Quality Control environment in a 24‑hour manufacturing operation, along with some supervisory experience, would be desirable. Required Skills • Ability to implement change and support new initiatives, helping to develop and deliver process improvements., • High level of integrity and autonomy., • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on their own initiative., • Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for customer-facing roles., • High level of IT literacy using Microsoft packages such as Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Preferred Skills • Proven experience working within a Quality Control / Quality Assurance environment, ideally in a 24‑hour manufacturing operation., • ISO 9001 knowledge or Internal Auditor qualification would be highly advantageous., • Experience with complaint handling, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and quality performance monitoring., • Previous supervisory or team‑leading experience is desirable., • Strong data analysis and reporting skills, particularly using Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint., • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, 5 Whys) is an advantage., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence liaising with customers and internal stakeholders., • A proactive, self‑motivated approach with the ability to work autonomously and adapt to change. Pay range and compensation package Salary: Circa £31,000 – £36,000 per annum. This is a monthly paid staff position, working 35 hours per week. However, due to the nature of the role, flexibility is required, and there may be occasions where additional hours are necessary to meet business needs.
