Core Purpose The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for leading and driving TSK’s Health and Safety strategy, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and ISO 45001, and embedding a proactive, high-performing safety culture across the business in line with TSK’s ambition to be a market leader in the fit-out industry. Key Activities • Take full ownership of the Health and Safety function, driving continuous improvement in culture, standards, and performance., • Manage, maintain and continuously improve the Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 requirements., • Develop, review and implement company-wide risk assessments and safe systems of work., • Drive behavioural safety initiatives informed by audit findings, incident trends, and HSE guidance., • Lead and implement the company Health and Safety training strategy, identifying competencies and arranging appropriate training., • Undertake regular site visits for Southern based projects, carrying out audits in line with i-Audit and TSK Way standards., • Review Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, and compliance documentation at both pre- and post-contract stages., • Provide competent Health and Safety advice and support to pre-construction teams, project delivery teams, subcontractors, design teams, and Board members., • Provide Health and Safety advice to clients where required, maintaining TSK’s professional reputation., • Support and coach delivery teams in compliance with CDM Regulations, including design risk management., • Review subcontractor RAMS/SSOWs and assess the effectiveness of approval processes during audits., • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioural safety initiatives to ensure effectiveness and practicality., • Chair bi-annual Safety Committee meetings, preparing agendas and issuing minutes to relevant stakeholders., • Lead the annual RoSPA submission process., • Investigate accidents and incidents, producing high-quality reports and implementing corrective actions., • Liaise with insurers regarding civil claims as required., • Produce and present monthly accident and incident statistics to the Board., • Liaise with the HSE and other enforcing authorities where necessary., • Support ISO re-certification audits in conjunction with the Compliance Manager., • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and industry best practice, actively communicating updates across the business., • Attend Health and Safety events to ensure that industry best practice is applied within the organisation., • Engage regularly with operational teams to support compliance and drive continuous improvement., • Report weekly to the Nia Meredith, Head of Standards, to support operational governance and performance reporting. Strengths, Skills, Competencies • Proven experience in Health and Safety within the construction and fit-out sector., • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations and their practical application., • Experience advising on safe access systems, including tube and fit and mobile tower scaffolding., • Knowledge of asbestos management and lifting operations (including mobile crane planning)., • Up-to-date understanding of current legislation and emerging industry developments., • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including Board and client level., • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports., • Effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities., • Confidence and resilience when dealing with challenging or confrontational situations., • Collaborative, relationship-led approach to driving behavioural and cultural change., • Flexibility to manage fluctuating workloads in a fast-paced environment., • Proactive approach to supporting design risk management and pre-construction activities. Qualifications and Requirements • NEBOSH Diploma (essential), • Chartered Membership (desirable), • Full UK Driving Licence, • Flexibility to travel nationally, including periodic visits to Head Office in Manchester Key deliverables (Measures of Success) The Health and Safety Manager is successful when: • Accident and incident rates are consistently low or improving., • The business maintains full compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation and standards., • A strong, positive safety culture is embedded across the organisation., • Training, engagement and awareness initiatives are actively delivered and effective., • All incidents and near-misses are reported, investigated, and communicated accurately and promptly. Key Resources • Reports directly to the Head of Standards, who provides strategic oversight, escalation support, and professional development guidance., • Works across a national portfolio of projects, requiring regular travel and site presence to maintain visibility and influence.
