Department Manager – Meat Production Line Location: London Contract: Permanent Salary: £38,000 per annum We are seeking a highly skilled, hands‑on Department Manager to lead our meat production line. This is a key operational role for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage a fast‑paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and team performance. Key Responsibilities • Manage and run your own meat production department, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations, • Work hands‑on on the production line, supporting all stages of processing, • Operate and oversee butchery machinery, ensuring safe and correct use, • Carry out product quality checks on all packaging and finished products, • Ensure all labelling complies with current legislation, including allergen, ingredient, and traceability requirements, • Maintain accurate halal and non‑halal segregation and stock labelling, • Conduct regular hygiene and sanitation checks, ensuring full compliance with food safety standards, • Manage stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimise waste, • Check all equipment, ensuring it is clean, safe, and fully operational at all times, • Report equipment issues promptly and ensure timely maintenance, • Attend weekly management meetings and contribute to continuous improvement, • Lead, motivate, and monitor the team, ensuring high performance and adherence to procedures, • Ensure all QC checks and documentation are completed accurately and submitted daily to the QA Assistant, • Work closely with the QA Manager to ensure all HACCP and BRCGS due‑diligence documentation is completed correctly and on time About You • Strong leadership skills with experience in meat production or a similar environment, • Knowledge of butchery machinery and safe operating procedures, • Excellent understanding of HACCP, BRCGS, and food safety legislation, • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and compliance, • Confident in a hands‑on role with the ability to support and guide your team, • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities What We Offer • £38,000 annual salary, • Supportive management and team culture, • Opportunities for training and career development, • A key leadership role with real impact on quality and operational standards
