Our DT and Engineering department plays a central role in the school’s curriculum, offering students hands-on, creative, and industry-relevant learning experiences across product design, engineering principles, CAD/CAM, electronics, and resistant materials. The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and committed Teacher of Design & Technology (with Engineering specialism desirable) to join our successful department from September 2026. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience and subject expertise. The successful candidate will inspire students through practical, engaging lessons that develop creativity, problem-solving, and technical understanding. Key Responsibilities Teach DT and Engineering across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable) Deliver engaging, practical and theory-based lessons in line with the national curriculum Contribute to the development of the Engineering and DT curriculum Maintain high standards of health and safety in workshops and labs Support students in developing practical skills using tools, machinery, CAD software, and design processes Monitor, assess, and report on student progress effectively Contribute to extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and enrichment opportunities The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology and/or Engineering Ability to teach resistant materials, product design, and engineering principles Experience using CAD/CAM software and workshop machinery (desirable) A passion for practical, hands-on learning and student achievement Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing What We Offer A supportive and well-resourced DT/Engineering department Access to modern workshops and specialist equipment Opportunities for professional development and career progression A collaborative and forward-thinking staff team Motivated students who are eager to learn and succeed
