In this role you will join a BMA team helping UK water utilities in their ambitious goal to rebalance aging infrastructure with climate resilience, ensuring clean waterways for future generations while balancing customer affordability. For example, tackling sewage pollution by upgrading aging infrastructure, deploying smart monitoring systems, and accelerating nature-based solutions. In this role you will help guide the largest-ever investment in wastewater resilience, balancing climate adaptation, customer affordability, and ecological accountability seen in a generation. Job Description As a Value Delivery Consultant at BMA, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Decisio™ platform and using it to help our clients make better decisions now and in the long term. Your primary focus will be on leveraging your expertise in planning and Data Science skills to optimise the performance, resilience, and sustainability of water, wastewater, and energy infrastructure systems for our clients. While the initial focus of the role will be in the wastewater sector, there will be wider opportunities across our clean water, bioresources, and energy infrastructure clients. Key responsibilities The role will require you to be part of a rapidly growing company that has a wide-ranging customer base spread across numerous industry verticals in the water, wastewater & energy sectors, amongst others. • Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through proactive understanding of client business requirements, translating them into modelling solutions. This role is primarily customer-facing., • Lead and attend workshop sessions with business stakeholders from time to time to determine business requirements for end-use cases to be deployed., • Inform clients' strategic Resource Management Plans and Long-Term Delivery Strategies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, using the Decisio™ platform., • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support systems planning, offering guidance on efficiency optimisation, energy production enhancement, and resilience planning during critical asset unavailability., • Learn the core technologies used by BMA and become familiar with the BMA’s proprietary Decision Intelligence software platform, Decisio™, to create detailed digital representations of clients' connected asset systems., • Gather, transform, and validate data to design. As well as to make use of available technologies to build and validate solution behaviour., • Conduct comprehensive scenario analysis and network design optimisation to enhance system performance, efficiency, and resilience, considering various operational constraints, environmental factors, and the strategic ambitions of the client., • Understand existing mathematical models and develop additional logic to meet both internal and clients’ requirements., • Participate in all aspects of system development, testing, deployment, and feedback with the overarching objective to further enhance and develop Decisio™ for the benefit of the Company and its customers (this could require interaction with other company employees geographically situated around the world). Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Engineering, Water Engineering, Water Sciences, Data Science, Statistical and Decision Sciences, or a STEM related field. Essential Skills & Experience • Proficiency in utilising advanced analytics and Data Science techniques for decision-making purposes, in particular statistical analysis, forecasting and other predictive modelling, and optimisation algorithms., • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, and basic knowledge of other tools and techniques such as MS SQL Server, Python, R, linear programming, and other optimisation techniques and technologies., • A proven track record of driving innovation, delivering results, and adapting to dynamic and fast-paced environments., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Extremely Advantageous • Previous experience with wastewater processes, combined sewer overflow systems, and associated operational challenges., • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in wastewater management., • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive scenario analysis, optimisation modelling, and investment planning, with a keen understanding of the interplay between technical, economic, and environmental factors.
