As an academic governor of FSB, you will be and accomplished academic and researcher and hold, or have held a senior academic position at a recognised university or other higher education institution (e.g., Dean, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, or Head of Department). You will meet fit and proper requirements applicable to academic governors and be available to attend three to four meetings a year, for which reasonable prior notice will be given. Candidates must: be conversant with UK HE quality assurance mechanisms, including the OfS Regulatory Framework, and external examining procedures, be experienced in interpreting and challenging complex academic performance metrics (e.g., NSS, TEF data, degree classification profiles, student demographic data), demonstrate commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and the reduction of awarding/access gaps, hold, or be actively working towards Advance HE Fellowship, disclose conflicts of interest (particularly academic conflicts with competitor institutions) in line with the FSBs Conflicts of Interest Policy. Independent Governors will receive an induction to FSB which highlights its mission, values, culture and corporate configuration, and which sets out the responsibilities and expectations placed on governors. Remuneration arrangements for serving as an Academic Governor will be made on an individual basis with due regard for the value of the statutory, commercial and academic expertise of the governor and the specific needs of the organisation. All remunerated positions are subject to an annual appraisal. Reasonable expenses (such as travel and accommodation) will also be considered by the Board in accordance with the FSBs policy for approval.
