Overview A well-established construction business is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of the company’s health and safety function. This is a key role with responsibility for ensuring compliance across projects and offices, while also driving a positive health and safety culture within the organisation. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in the construction sector, a strong knowledge of legislation and standards, and the ambition to progress into a leadership role. Key Responsibilities • Lead the health and safety function across the business, ensuring policies and procedures are in place and adhered to., • Monitor compliance with all relevant EHS legislation, standards, and industry best practices., • Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring actions are followed up., • Support project teams with RAMS, method statements, and safety documentation., • Oversee accident/incident investigations and implement corrective actions., • Manage relationships with stakeholders, clients, contractors, and staff on health & safety matters., • Drive initiatives to strengthen the company’s health and safety culture., • Maintain and support ISO standards and industry accreditations., • Mentor and guide junior staff with a view to developing a strong safety team. Candidate Requirements • Proven construction experience (essential)., • Experience working with both main contractors and sub-contractors., • Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, standards, and best practices., • Awareness of ISO standards and other industry accreditations., • NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification., • Excellent leadership and communication skills., • Ambition and willingness to progress and take on a team leadership role. You will join the engineering team on a permanent basis to cover an exciting and growing Integrated Project Team (IPT). This role will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver the project. The Engineering Manager provides the engineering leadership and management in collaboration with the Chief Engineer and Senior Engineering Manager, to identify, develop, deliver and support the technical solution. As the Project Engineering Lead you will: • Be primarily focused on work package management and delivery of an EW System solution., • Lead and manage your cross-function development team through the full product delivery lifecycle utilising Agile development processes., • Personally coach and mentor Engineers within your team., • Ensure that the Engineering activities are well planned, costed and scheduled., • Work with stakeholders to elicit and prioritise requirements., • Ensure that the Engineering Plans are clearly defined and well communicated to your team., • Oversee the completion of the Engineering plans to quality, cost and schedule., • Work closely with the Project Chief Engineer to ensure the design solution maximises the re-use of existing 'resources', is producible and is robust., • Work closely with the Project Chief Engineer to ensure the design solution works within its intended environment and is certified using the company engineering development processes., • Work closely with the Project Engineering Manager to identify technical risks and mitigation strategies., • Control project configuration and change management., • Ensure effective implementation of the company's Lifecycle Management process., • Agree qualification & acceptance criteria and design certification., • Ensure compliance with Regulatory and Safety Standards. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR You really must have: • Proven experience in engineering management and delivery of projects., • Knowledge of Engineering lifecycle processes., • Strong leadership competencies., • Good schedule and budget control., • Ability to produce clear and concise engineering documentation, • Ability to provide clear direction to teams and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders., • Self-motivation with a strong aptitude for problem solving., • Commercial and business awareness. It would be nice if you had: • Good knowledge of Electronic Warfare systems., • Knowledge of airborne and ground-based radar systems., • Knowledge of Agile development processes., • Undergraduate Engineering degree or related scientific discipline.
