Site managers are essentially those individuals who ensure the completion of a project from the start till the end. They’re accountable for ensuring that the entire plan execution remains within the budgeted parameters.. Those who take on site manager jobs are also known as construction managers, project managers and site agents. Taking on a site manager job means working on active construction sites. People who are senior in this field will head the project and be known as the project lead or project manager. 

A site manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating and alleviating risk 
  • Choosing tools, equipment and building materials 
  • Client communication, construction vendors, suppliers and public bodies 
  • Implementing safety precautions and protocols 
  • Managing and supervising the construction team ranging from labourers, workers, builders, electricians, painters etc
  • Managing quality control protocols 
  • Ensuring that the customer’s requirements are being technically carried out Preparing and delivering site reports, drawings and specifications 
  • Obtaining required work permits, licenses and such 
To be an effective site manager, the candidate must be able to inspire his team to work hard, have great communication skills and be great at making decisions and solving problems. The average salary for a site manager job is £20/hour.
