Job overviewThis is an exciting opportunity for a kind, motivated and clinically skilled practitioner psychologist to join our acute male ward and PICU unit in the London Borough of Greenwich.We would welcome applications from Psychological Therapists and Psychotherapists (including Systemic Psychotherapists) holding AFT, UKCP, BCP or BACP registrations.We are looking for a psychologist who is able to lead and inspire, and who is wanting to contribute to the development of highly effective clinical teams.The successful applicant will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team/s to ensure that they are able to provide a range of evidence-based psychosocial interventions for our service users who are in crisis, and their support networks including families and carers. Individual therapeutic interests and preferences are promoted and will be actively supported with specialist supervision and training if aligned with directorate priorities (specifically trauma-informed care and family/systems working).- Clinical work could involve crisis focused DBT, CBT, family/systemic interventions and trauma-focused, eg EMDR. This is strengthened by our new values:We’re KindWe’re FairWe ListenWe CareDetailed job description and main responsibilitiesAs the lead psychologist for the Acute male ward and PICU unit you will provide specialist psychological assessments and intervention to clients referred to the service.You will responsible for the supervision of assistant psychologists on the wards and to lead on reflective practise sessions.The work will be based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care. Person specificationEducation/ QualificationEssential criteria- Post doctoral training in relevant specialist areas of clinical psychology or equivalent as accredited by the BPS- Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.- Leadership and management training- Registration with AFT, UKCP, BCP or BACP registrations.ExperienceEssential criteria- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.- Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contextDesirable criteria- Experience working with homeless or rough sleeping people- Experience of leading and managing services including managing staff and initiating and implementing service development.Skills/ AbilitiesEssential criteria- Skills in the use of complex methods of neuropsychological and psychological assessment, intervention and management- Ability to organise time effectively, use own initiative and to work under supervision where appropriate- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPSEffort and EnvironmentEssential criteria- Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours.- Ability to provide consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.Desirable criteria- Car driverWe are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that welcomes and supports individuals of all abilities.
