Within OGT, the Subsurface & Wells Technology (SS&W) team delivers impactful solutions to high‑priority business challenges. We are now seeking a Wells Engineer to join our Wells Technology Unit—one of our core delivery areas focused on advanced drilling, completions, intervention, surveillance, and fluids technologies. In this role, you will develop and deliver innovative drilling and wells technologies that drive measurable business value in cost reduction, performance improvement, and risk mitigation. You will work closely with internal teams and external technology partners to shape R&D programs, lead engineering projects from concept to deployment, and ensure that solutions meet the needs of diverse global operations. This is a high‑impact role for someone with strong technical foundations, excellent project delivery skills, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Key Accountabilities * Develop and deliver technology solutions addressing bp’s priority drilling and wells challenges. * Serve as a technical contributor across drilling and well construction, supporting solution design, qualification, and field deployment. * Lead end‑to‑end technology and engineering projects, working with suppliers and partners to accelerate development and trial programs. * Engage partners across Wells, Subsurface, Operations, and central technology teams to ensure alignment and adoption. * Apply sound engineering judgment to prioritise work and manage technical trade‑offs. * Deliver work with pace, rigour, and clarity, upholding high standards of safety, quality, and technical assurance. Essential Experience and Job Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree in engineering (petroleum, mechanical, chemical, or related discipline). * Strong drilling engineering background, including well planning and execution. * Proven ability to manage complex technical projects in fast‑paced or ambiguous environments. * Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical topics clearly. * Demonstrated critical thinking, problem‑solving ability, and focus on business value. * Collaborative mindset and experience working across teams and disciplines. * Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and advanced well control. * Downhole tools and BHA design (RSS, motors, MWD/LWD, specialty tools). * Drilling performance optimisation and NPT reduction. * Well construction engineering (casing design, hydraulics, torque & drag, cementing). * Real‑time operations, surveillance, and data‑driven decision‑making. * Experience across onshore/offshore environments including deepwater, shelf, HPHT, unconventional, or remote operations.
