From concept to completion, you’ll be the driving force behind transformational changes that leave a lasting impact on communities across the North, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget You won’t just manage projects—you’ll make them happen.\n\nWhat you’ll be doing as Project Manager\n\nAs a key member of our Property Projects team, you’ll:\n\n Lead and coordinate the planning, design, and delivery of multiple station improvement projects from inception to completion.\n\n Ensure robust project controls around scope, cost, programme, risk, and quality—delivering results that meet customer and stakeholder expectations.\n\n Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (including Network Rail) to ensure alignment, access planning, and efficient delivery.\n\n Translate stakeholder needs into clear project requirements, business cases, and technical scopes that align with industry and railway standards.\n\n Oversee contract management activities, including design reviews, site meetings, commercial evaluations, and governance compliance.\n\n Travel around Greater Manchester and Merseyside to support project stakeholders\n\nAbout you\n\nTo succeed in this role, you’ll bring:\n\n Proven experience in project management within construction, property, or rail infrastructure—ideally with relevant qualifications and membership of a professional body.\n\n Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and lead multidisciplinary teams.\n\n A thorough understanding of CDM Regulations, CSM, HSE legislation, and relevant building and railway standards.\n\n Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and across organisations.\n\n * A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage complex projects independently and collaboratively.\n\nIf you’re ready to step into a role where your expertise drives meaningful change—and where no two days are the same—we’d love to hear from you.\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\n\nAt Northern, we don’t just value our people - we go the extra mile to support them.
