The Barking Meter is seeking both full time and part time handlers (dog walkers) in Brooklyn (DUMBO, Downtown BK, Prospect Park West), FiDi, Chelsea/West Village, and Uptown (Upper East/West sides). We are seeking hard-working dog lovers who have a passion for the industry and can commit to us long term, no less than one year. Due to the nature of the job (building close relationships with our clients and dogs every day) and the amount of time and effort we put into training each newcomer, a long-term commitment is incredibly important to us. Prior experience not required; we will fully train the right candidate. Candidates seeking employment for only a few months need NOT apply. As a member of the team, you can expect to grow into the leader of your own pack. We will train you over the course of the first few weeks to help facilitate the bond and trust between you, your dogs, and our clients. TBM is a very small company, so our staff, clients, and dogs become family. Must be willing to submit to a background check and provide professional references. All applicants who receive the opportunity to begin training will start as a 1099 contractor for four to six weeks before receiving an offer of employment. This is a paid training at $16/hr for all new trainees. Once hired, depending on individual pack walking experience and performance in training, the wage is raised to a range of $17.50 - $20/hr. Opportunity for growth into lead and salaried positions.Full-time handlers (35+ hours/week) are eligible for an unlimited metro card, uniform sneaker reimbursement, cell phone and headphone reimbursement. All part time employees will receive reimbursement for approved metro card usage during work hours.
