Job DescriptionJob Title: Phlebotomist Job Description The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation, ensuring minimal discomfort to patients across a wide demographic. This role is crucial to our commitment to delivering high-quality care for our patients and those of our partners. Responsibilities • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge them., • Record maintenance data and perform decontamination., • Update patient information accurately., • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures., • Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously., • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles., • Understand and execute physicians' orders., • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and handle specimens as required by test orders., • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy., • Package specimens for transport., • Store specimens according to required temperatures and procedures to maintain specimen integrity., • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations., • Wear appropriate attire and attend annual department trainings., • Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.Essential Skills, • Phlebotomy expertise, including blood draw and specimen processing., • Experience with straight needle techniques., • 2-3 years of experience with drawing blood., • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with infant draws is a plus., • Pediatric experience is beneficial.Work Environment The role offers a dynamic work environment, ideal for candidates who enjoy a change of scenery and in-state travel. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, with every other Saturday required. The position does not include holidays or vacation time. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Vernon, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
