Job Description Brief summary of role: As a Senior Product Designer you will own an entire product vertical at the core of our business as well as helping guide the horizontal infrastructure and processes used by the design team and others: design systems, mobile strategy, co-creation workshops. You will have the space to apply a wide range of skills from user research to crisp visual design, and when a project calls for it, learning new ones along the way (think motion design). In this role, the designer will be expected to ideate and help develop the product roadmap alongside the PM, sometimes executing projects that are best led by design from navigation refactoring to look-and-feel updates. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for leading and executing all phases of the design process—from concept through installation—with a high level of creativity, precision, and professionalism. PROJECT MANAGEMENT * Provide time estimates in relation to project specific Scope of Work to support accurate design fee calculations. * Act as the primary point of contact between the ABD STUDIO design team and the client, including maintaining regular correspondence on design decisions and client questions. * Serve as the primary design liaison between the internal design team and project architects and general contractors, ensuring clear communication and alignment on all design-related matters. * Attend OAC meetings as the design representative for ABD STUDIO and document discussions and action items through clear and organized note-taking. * Coordinate all interior architecture schedules as follows: * Source and guide selections for project schedules (including appliance, automatic shades, bath accessories, cabinetry hardware, plumbing, decorative lighting and finish schedules) and communicate approved selections to the project management team * Inform the Project Manager of any adjustments related to interior architecture schedules so they can update schedules accordingly * Prepare the paint schedule * Review interior architecture schedules and provide feedback prior to issuing * Coordinate with the Project Manager on design team deliverables by reviewing weekly priorities, providing feedback on deadlines or adjustments, and delegating design-specific tasks across the team. * Delegate project quotes and spec input to Design team members. Prior versions of the tool were implemented in Python as a Jupyter Notebook and helped staff retrieve fresh releases of datasets from sources like the California state demographer and the U.S. Census. Some pieces of the tool have already been migrated to an interactive web-based form. The summer intern will work to debug and migrate the remaining parts of the tool, and will explore new data that might be added. Candidates will be able to adapt the existing project to a new environment, make it more usable for research staff, expand its functionality to new sources of data, and document their work for future revisions of the tool. The intern will also work with the project directors to identify new data sources and explore the best way to present information from them.
